I got it at the local BMW shop. Formotion makes them.

Just ordered mine from cyclegadgets.com. But read about your different options at Formotion's website formotionproducts.com

I ordered the one with the Super LumiGlow face hoping that it would still be glowing when I get off work at 10:30pm. I mounted it on the tach much like in the above pictures but I'm rather disappointed that it doesn't have enough glow left in it by the time I go home. I'm hoping that as the sun stays up longer the glow will last that much longer. (Also, part of the problem with mounting it on the tach is that the light from the tach is washing out what little glow is remaining.) I am going to provide a full evaluation after I use it a few more weeks; it will be in the Evalutaions forum.

I have had mine for 2 years

    Get one of these

Here Micro Light or somewhere else .

I put it on the same ring as My MC key

    Works well

If you really want it to glow all the time
You could paint the face with paint they used to use on watch faces to make them glow all the time day or night. Not sure what the Half Life is on it

I ordered the full set recommended in the first post, $21.10 shipped from the link. In hindsight the only small dislike is that the red on the tach is a little hard to see. But they do light the gauges up very well.

I wish I would have done this way sooner! Excellent results.

Dont wait for the bulbs to burn out... just do it now. Took me all of 30 minutes. And thats because I forgot to hook the speedometer back up and had to take the fairing off again.

I've swapped all the bulbs and really like the darker green that the leds produce. The downside is that at night the odometers (especially the trip odometer) are a little hard to read. This is mainly due to the smaller led that goes in bottom right of the speedo. The speedo and tach are darker but still readable. I have no issues at all with the 2 red lights. The turn signal, high beam, and neutral lights all seem to be brighter, which should help a bit during the day with the dang turn signals.

After carefully reading every post, I am sooooo damned confused. I saw Paul's bike at ES and it looked great, but then some of you say use the stock lights for part of the set up. How do I know what to do now?

Which part are you confused about Barb?

IMO, if you're going to open the odometer up to replace one or two bulbs, go ahead and do all the bulbs in the odometer, tach and dummy lights. You do it once, then you're done. The single led bulbs are not as bright as stock bulbs, but as many have said... it isn't a problem at night. It is a little hard to read at dusk. I went with smaller led bulb for the bright light indicator, so it would be less offensive.

    Installed last night!

I ordered the whole set on Monday from superbrightleds.com and they arrived yesterday. Took me all of 30 minutes to put them in. All I can say is I'm very impressed - thanks for all the great information! To think I had been living without a couple of the speedo bulbs for years....

    P.S.

Something tells me this is the start of an evacuation of money from me checking account. Now what about those LED turn signals and brake lights.....

For what its worth, I was advised to use the same color LED as the lense you are trying to illuminate. Red lense = red LED, green lense = green LED etc. I was told that the light output will be greater this way, than when using white led'S.

I bought all of the colors of LEDs they sell and tried them all in the different positions. The colors I recommend in the first post are the ones that lit them all up the brightest. Red in the red idiot lights for example was much dimmer than the white that I suggested.

    Hope someone answers this....

Do you get the 74's with the dual or single contact base??? I see 7443-15 and 7440-15 as the two that I assume ya'll are referring to as the "type 74" bulbs on the subper bright leds website.

I ordered mine and don't remember there being a choice. All the bases looked the same when I installed them I think.

PUT IN THE LED'S THIS WEEKEND....

I purchased the 5 LEDS for the instrument lighting on the speedo and tach..got them in red of course and they look real bling-bling at night..LOL!!! the 5 LED were a tight fit however but they went in the hole with a little coaxing. Also replaced all other bulbs with leds as well...they seem to be about as bright as the regular bulbs..but hopefully last longer as some have said. Thanks again for the info!!!

I put the LED's in today that I ordered, they sure don't fit very tight in the connectors like the stock ones. Has anybody had a problem with them coming loose? Well I'll give them a try and see, but I have this weird feeling about them, hope I'm wrong.

Mine didn't seem any looser or tighter than the regular bulbs. I did have to turn two of them around to get them to work. They've been in a month or so and I haven't had any problems yet. knock on wood.

I know I'm bringing up an old subject...

However, I was out riding last night and the tach light was flickering between bright and dull.
Is this a kindda warning that the bulbs are going out?
Also, noticed that the speedo is much dimmer than the tach in general.
Possible bulbs out on the speedo?

I have an all black rex w/ a red led kit under the bike. I would really like to replace the speedo/odo/tach lights w/ red bulbs to match(not really concerned about the warning/turn/high beam lights), but am curious as to how the red light effects reading the gauges (mainly the red line of the tach ). Any of you out there w/ the red lights on your gauges after having them for a while have good/bad views on them? Also, would you recommend the 4 or 5 led lights? Thanks for the help.

I have the 5 LED in my speedo and tach. I love the red glow at night. Honestly, it may seem not quite as bright as white would be, but I have no trouble reading them at all. Also, the red area on the tach face really glows super red now and thats kinda trick as well. Overall, I very happy with them.

    Also...

I have an '01 1200R does anyone know how many bulbs are necessary for the speedo/tach/odo/fuel gauge and are they all the same size? I'm not concerned w/ the turn signal/high beam/oil/temp lights. Just the lights in the gauge cluster. I know there is the breakdown of an 1100 on here but I am unsure as to if it is the same for an '01 1200R. Thanks for this additional help.

    Sooo....

I will assume that means the 1100 cluster pictured in the first post is the same as a 1200 cluster. Cool . However, I managed to think of one more question (and I truly do hate to keep asking questions but I like to ensure that I do a proper job the first time to save on having to redo a project and I hold the advice and knowledge of those who have already done a project in high regards ). After reviewing the first picture I can account for all the bulbs; 3-wled's for the speedo/tach, 1- 74 for the speedo (bottom bulb), and 6- 74's for turn signals(2),high beam(1),neutral(1),and oil/temp lights(2). BUT which light illuminates the fuel gauge. I see where the fuel gauge sending line plugs in at but I see no spot for a bulb. I am assuming that one of the other bulbs shares the task of lighting the fuel gauge I just want to be sure that it gets changed to the right color to match. Thanks again. And this should be my last question...hopefully
