A story that can ONLY BE TOLD as a retrospective.

So much crap must go exactly right for all of this happen that you must believe that some good ole fashioned luck was in the success equation (small % ).

I must say, though, I do pine for the old days when a crap load of cars would take on this challenge. No. I'm not referring to any movies.
I'm not completely useless. I can always be used as a bad example.

It’s all really cool until one of these idiots kills an innocent family because they’re screaming down the road at 120 miles an hour.

Depends on who wants to know.........and why.

    Re: Cannon ball run record

I had buttermilk pancakes and thick-cut bacon for dinner tonight.

And, I didn't take the chance of harming or killing anyone in the process.

BTW.....their "record" won't stand. All someone has to do is drive faster.
Speed kills..........but only the dumb and the inexperienced!

    Re: Cannon ball run record

population density and insufficient infrastructure seems to make this, as some have said, dangerous, maybe more so than when it began way back when

my reference point is NYS interstate highways that are mostly 2 lanes north/south & east/west - uh, wow - bad planning at best

I lost a parent and was feeling devil may care...it was on rt I-81S going 120 indicated or more on the zrx when the left lane was open and two small shxtboxes were following ea. other and I thought a shotbox wont try to pass a another shotbox car so I was going to pass them both in the clean passing lane,
then the laggard decided to pass the guy in front of him, and I had to gear down to 3rd and used all of my brakes... and I was a foot off the gas of the car in front of me or a foot on the brake away from a major accident

    - if memory is half correct - I managed to be ~3ft from the bumper of the passing car going about 65 to 70 mph

hopefully the rest of the country has at least 3 lane interstates or this record is super fast, super lucky and wicked dangerous to those unexpectedly sharing the road with a couple devil may care record chasers - the records are nice - a fail could be fatal to innocents like , God forbid a family member of someone that knows nothing of the RUN

but they made it and that, is, cool
