Now you need to learn how to hand scrape ways for better than new performance.

Re: AV80R starts making scrap metal - Taig Micro Lathe

KWICK sent me some titanium to cut my teeth on (pun intended).

He also sent me some drill rod (on the right pictured below) which will be used for a future knurling tool project.

Also got one of his rocker tool posts in hand. Great item, which will negate the need for brass shims (visible in the standard tool post pictured below).

Perfect tool height in seconds with no fiddling with shims anymore.

KWICK also sent me a revised holder for the dial indicator on the lathe bed. This one includes a nifty nylon reinforced thumbscrew. Much faster than using an Allen key to loosen and reposition the dial.

AV80R starts making scrap metal - Taig Micro Lathe

Got my ER16 collet set and adapter in. These will be great for round stock up to 3/8Ē, and also for holding cutting tools when the lathe is used as a mill.

The boring bar from the UK arrived as well. Itís bigger than I expected.

I thought the holder was going to be 1/4Ē, but the bar itself is 1/4Ē with the holder being slightly bigger.

I wonder if I can use the bar in the toolpost without the holder. It has a flat ground on the bottom of the bar. Might have to fabricate a special holder for this instead.

Here it is pictured next to a standard 1/4Ē tool.

Re: AV80R starts making scrap metal - Taig Micro Lathe

There is no understandable sizing for the stuff. It is so frustrating starting out. Trying to find correct size tooling is krazy. The boing bar looked great when I got it Tuesday, but I did not see if it was the correct size...

Got a new handle with a ball end off eBay for the tailstock. Definitely an improvement over the flat steel bar.

The rocker tool post from MM&LS works great.
