I know I'm , but if kawasaki would have put a good modern engine like that in the ZRX, it would possibly still around, installing an older tech engine without fixing the flaws and carbs really limited it's marketeability IMO,

Maybe, but I think the quirks give this bike a personality.

Re: So, I did an internet search...

What really sold me on the ZRX was the general looks as related to the original ELR, somethings were off like the exhaust and the wheels, but at that price point it was a great deal, no doubt. For example, if they would have gone fuel injection in the US, it would have sold more bikes in general, a lot less maintenance and less emissions, I mean there's literally hundreds of post about carb issues, hydrolocking, gummed up, etc., etc. Yes tinkerers like carbs and chasing no start gremlins, etc. , but average person just wants to ride.

In 1997 when they came out with the ZRX , the zrx mill was a modern engine.

The engine on the ZRX is based on the original 1984 Gpz900R(AKA NINJA 900), it went thru some upgrades on the ZX11/1990-2001 and the mid 90's Gpz1100 wich mostly resembles the ZRX1100, The ZRX1200 main difference is the plated bore cylinders, otherwise same, same.

if they had managed to put the shaft drive from the concours on a ZRX they would have had a very sporty GS 850G. .
I bought It for the looks and the simplicity.
From experience leave then alone and they run for ever with out a complaint.
But what would be the fun in that?

Name a more modern kawi engine over 1000cc in 1997 .

They used the best big bore engine they had at the time.

This one is so well camouflaged you can't tell it's a Kawasaki. I wouldn't bullshit you.

Your'e right they didn't have a big bore engine, that looked the part, like the original aircooled engine in the ELR,etc. But they had a better and more powerful engine in the ZX9R wich became DFI/Z1000 engine, My point is not really about engine choice, is about not addressing the bad issues with it $$$, some have been around since the 84 Gpz900R !!!, I know this all too well, I was a kawasaki dealer mechanic in the 80's.

Re: So, I did an internet search...

There is probably a new Kawi engine that would work every bit as well Hint hint
But that Busa swap is so sanitary I wish someone would make a kit less motor and injectors
That would be sweet with a capital S. I would decidedly be a buyer
