In case anyone is wondering, all the factory "extras" he's talking about, actually came with the bike new. We used to sell those at SDBMW..... that is a good price though! Most of the parts are GM parts, so filters and and other service items can be found at your pep boys, kragen, whatevers car shops around town!

I read an article that said while the engine was liked, the rest of the bike couldn't be compared with modern bikes having ABS for example, given the bike was 2+ years behind schedule. They noted non- ABS sport tourers will not sell in the EU as well

Lee told us they purposefully didn't put t/c on them because they were geared toward the "purist". That was a contested decision from the buyer.... often.

The guys in our Auto stores are normally pretty clued in - had to get brake pads for my Toyota bB (JDM Import - literally clown car) yesterday and the dude found em, checked they were right and had me out the door in 5 mins

Is it that they hire people that arent into cars, or company policy? You want fries with that?

When I buy from Autozone or Advance AP, I usually order on line from my phone and just pick up, because most of the time a discount code will come up and you don't have to stress out with millenials.
I tried the ZRX plug number one time and got 20 questions and not available , went back to my car, ordered online, had lunch and picked up, NP

They usually use a unique/propietary item number and location system, not the actual p/n. Their computer searches are based on applcation, it matches several parts based on cost and quality for you to decide and maximize sales, the sell more cheap parts that way.

There's virtually no privately owned auto parts stores in the USA anymore, unless they are specialty custom and/or speed shops, the big box auto parts mostly keep lubricants, consumables and accessories in the aisle, the real $$ parts are kept on shelves behind the counter.

Yup, pretty much the same here (SuperCheap, Repco and Autobahn) - but 95% of the store I can just grab what I need. Very handy sometimes rather than explaining that I am buying parts for a Suzuki Ignis or a Nissan Micra to go into my Toyota.

The only good/positive thing about these big box stores is they actually give you warranty on just about everything, even wear parts
I've replaced brake pads + rotors for free for years, yes not the best quality parts, good enough for normal mortals the only negative IMO is on their battery warranty, they have to charge + load test, etc. Not a thing you can do over lunch break

One tip on claiming warranty, their thermally printed receipts are mysteriously quick in completely erasing themselves in your glove comparment
Kinda like the recorded message in "Mission:Impossible"
