    Harley

Guy found out I had 11 bikes. He asked how come I never got a Harley? ( I did not know he had one, never saw it.) he has a Jeep, side by side Yamaha and a F150. I didn't know what he was thinking . So I asked why don't you have a Honda Civic? I figger he would say he didn't need or want that type car. but he said he doesn't buy Jap. "Oh, except all the dirt bikes I used to have the quad and Yamaha side by side". So I told him Harley doesn't have an offering in the market segment I occupy that, and they are too heavy. he said his is a dyna and it is not that heavy. I asked what, 650lbs? ya prolly. I said my biggest pig might be 525. Super Duke 400Lbs. So he said he did care how fast something was. I said ground clearance and brakes are another concern Said his neighbor had a crotch rocket and he didn't like the low bars leaning over. Well you can imagine the rest.

I agree. Those type just label all sport type bikes as the same. But, if you label them as slow, heavy, lacking
agility, boring, and all the other shortcomings, they get offended. Like you said, tune them out.

"Crotch rocket? No, that is a sport touring bike. The crotch rocket is at home."

I don't mind. After all, the thing IS a freaking rocket.

Trying not to be a smart-ass... Usual response would be, I put my time in on a XLHC. 11yrs and 206,000mi. Excellent bike, but kind of a tractor. On the green rig, I can look cool and still scare myself every day (if I so choose).

Me with NO hesitation: "Not a Harley."

I was looking at a 2019 114 ci HD Breakout yesterday. I was surprised at the hardly no shake at idle and a lot smoother sound. The price tad was $23,500 so a lot has changed but not the price of them.

Friend of mine just got a 2019 Street Glide. Said its much noticeably smoother than the twin cam he traded in. I like them all but ride my Harley more than anything these days. Its just too comfortable and doesn't aggravate my lower back.

Ha - the Harley question is funny - when some people see you wearing full gear, on any motorcycle, so many say uh, why are you dressed like a spaceman or are you planning on crashing ?

haha - walk into work, boots, pants, jacket, gloves and carrying the full face helmet - be it the HD or ZRX
    - uh, ok , I can tell you either don't ride or don't consider ride variables and chance, nor prevention/crash mitigation if things do go sideways unexpectedly

people are strange - not enough happy thoughts in most

    Re: Harley

Everyone should own a Harley at some point, but only once.

When asked why I don't own a Harley, I typically ask how many miles they have on theirs, with a typical response between 5,000 to 20,000 miles. I respond with, "Well I put 60,000 miles on my last Harley, which makes me more of a Harley rider sitting here on my Kawasaki than you are sitting on your Harley". Pretty much ends the conversation.

On a side note, Harley riders with over 60,000 miles on their Harleys typically don't feel the need to ask why I don't own a Harley.
