A slack-jawed toothless Hello from central Arkansas

Iím so relieved to see Iím not the only weirdo that loves these bikes!!
    Hello everybody!!
The first time I had ever been over 100MPH it was on the back of a KZ1000 my dad and I inherited from his deceased brother. We more or less restored it. My family has always had Kawasakiís and Harleyís

A fella I worked with back in like 2005 had a ZRX1100 and I always thought it was an awesome bike given my background with Kaws and I always wanted one! Following James Compton Customs on Instagram for the last few years didnít help my want go away!
Anyway.. enough about me. Letís get to the bike.

Itís a 99 zrx that I bought off of my buddy who had it for a very short period of time.

    The good:
For a 20 year old bike with 25k miles looking at the fasteners on stuff, looking at the wiring harness the bike (bother than the full muzzy exhaust) is relatively unmolested.
It seems to run strong, and still feels tight!!

    The Bad:
Just like any old bike youíre buying a can of worms! Some jerkoff put air shocks on the back and at some point allowed the rear tire to rub against the inner fender and rub a hole though it and INTO the fuse junction block!! So I scored one off of EBay and I have a couple wires to put some heat shrink on!
When you let off the throttle it makes a loud POP which is great for scaring the dogs, but gets old pretty quick! So from what I gathered the reeds need blocked off (which I have plates enroute to do)
The front brake feels ďnotchyĒ so I ordered a master cyl rebuild kit for it, and I plan on actually getting the caliper rebuild and braided lines just to get it all knocked out at once.

    The Ugly
Paint is a little chipped up and faded. The bike looks good in pictures and from a few feet away (wish I could say that much about myself)

    The Plan:
Straighten out the minor things, source some factory rear shocks and re-do the forks. Rid of the popping and maybe tweak the jetting get the dumb stuff straightened out and enjoy the bike while I start stockpiling stuff to go full retard with it eventually!

Iím going to do more research before I start asking dumb questions. Shout out to Arash for getting me hooked up with a log in. Did any of you guys have to email him any sort of ďspecial picturesĒ to get an account set up.. or... was it just me

Welcome aboard I suggest you do some more research before you spend any more money. The stock shocks are a weak point

    Welcome aboard.

You've got a great easel onto which to paint. The mechanical items you've noted won't be any problem. Get the suspension sorted. Job 1.

You DO KNOW there is an Arkansas ZRXOA rally coming up? Right? As in.........guys are rolling toward Eureka Springs TODAY. Big ride in. Eureka Springs. There's 8 or 10 confirmed ZRX's confirmed. Maybe you should think about getting the details and getting up there and meeting these guys.

    Welcome aboard sailor.

Steiny beat me to it, but if you could make it to ES for the rally you'd be welcomed.

Where in Central Arkansas? I live southwest of Little Rock about a mile south of Lawson Road.

Watch out for the people here. They befriend you then they want you to part out your bike.

If you park with this group beware of people walking toward you with a wrench.

I put an engine up for sale here once and someone wanted to buy my tins

    Don't say I didn't warn you.

Hey budzrexÖ so sorry to hear about your friend, you are truly a friend to miss the rally to visit him... hat's off to you.

Prayers are up for him and hope he turns the corner real soon... please keep us posted!

Rat_CrispyÖ sorry Sir to hijack your welcoming thread but you seem to be one of us from the get go and I felt you'd understand if I said a few words to budzrex about his friend

    WELCOME ABOARD

You have one very nice looking ZRX and it's already looking good plus a Muzzy to wrap up an outstanding package.
You already know we have some great guys on here and Special Ed is one to be placed at the top of the list... don't worry, my check is in the mail for those kind works... right ED?

So feel free to ask the questions, remember there are no dumb questions other than the one you don't ask... so don't be shy

Wish you all the best with your new ride... the ZRX is one of Kawasaki's better masterpieces!

    Take care and be safe

I donít mind kind words being sent to folks!!
One of my favorite parts of getting a new machine is learning about it and the second is meeting people!
Itís really tough to find anything negative about these bikes, even the so-so shape mine is in it put a HUGE smile on my face the first time I rode it! Iím hoping it cooperates with me and letís me do a little here and there to it without it making me yank it all apart and not be able to take it out and scare myself occasionally!
