    Ford v Ferrari

I was at the gas station the other day topping off the tank on the Rex when this super nice 2017 Ford Mustangs GT 350 rolls up. The sound alone got my attention followed by the Ford Blue with white stripes down the middle. I started talking with the guy and he told me about the smokin deal he had got on it due to the previous owner having the money to buy a McLaren I was talking with him about my 59 Tbird that I had been working off and on for the last 8 years and how cool of a car it is. Any way he told me about this movie coming out and how it is about the developement of the GT40 and Fords goal to stick it to Ferrari.

I just watched the trailer looks like it would be pretty good, I wish I was not posting this from my phone or I would post up the link

Ford built a computer simulator dyno that ran the engines around Lemans circuit and see what breaks. Fairly mildly tuned FE's with a suprising amount of stock parts although lots of non destructive testing of them.

I went Friday and it was great. The time flew by. The only thing I didn't like was the usual stupid stuff they do in movies depicting races. Like him putting on his sunglasseses in the middle of a race. Backing out of the throttle on straights. At 7k in top gear and he downshifts, let's the clutch out and he's at . . . 7k rpm lol. If you look past the technical stuff you'll love it.

Just chatting to a guy at work who is a car guy through and through - and his wife is the exact opposite.

Both thoroughly enjoyed the move - will have to get to see it at some stage soon!

Can't find the book but I believe they loafed it around at 5800. If they needed it 6200 . They had lap times all figured out with computer simulations. The stock cars would turn 7000 and above.

Ben wasn't in the movie, but there were upcoming movie previews one of which was a new Ben Affleck movie. So be prepared for that.

I saw it last night. Learn a few things. but the "racing" parts were just too lame. Side by side racing in a 24 hour race was one. And don w the mulsane? straight.

Ferrari vs. Ferrari in the F1 race yesterday. After LeClerc passed him, the veteran Vettel managed to take out the whole team...on the straight, no less. And then blamed LeClerc.

For real : little I so do hope Interlagos stays on the calendar, always good for some drama

Those Ferrari engines might not have blown if they didn't have a guy grinding and throwing sparks 10 ft from the engine building stands.
Thank god Steve McQueen did it right with his movie.

My wife and I both enjoyed the movie. Actors did a great job. Cars are a big part of the movie.

Spoiler Alert: Ford wins Le Mans.

You're right Beebe wasn't a villain and Miles was grateful for his employment. He obviously still worked for them till his crash.

I suspected so. The story seems compelling enough as is but Hollywood has to add some conflict.

    Re: Ford v Ferrari

Dennis and I saw it today. I had ZERO expectations going in but had read some rave reviews. Frankly, when it first previewed months ago, I gave it a mighty shrug of the shoulders, as if, 'who cares?'

Boy, was I wrong- the movie was simply fantastic, IMHO- great writing, acting, cinematography. I was spellbound from the opening scenes.

My advice- don't wait for it to come out on video- go see it on the big screen, preferably a place w/good audio.

On another note- had to travel this past weekend, needed a rental and got a 2020 V6 Impala. It was a perfectly reasonable car, performance & otherwise, however, it had ZERO personality.

After returning home, I hopped back into my GT500, which had been parked a few days in the airport terminal lot, and reveled in the sound of the exhaust, the shifter back in my hand, my left leg working the clutch. It was a joyous experience to once again actually be part of a car's operation, not sitting there like a mindless automaton behind the wheel of a boring ride, ala the Impala.

Of course, after watching 'F vs F' today only further reinforced that notion and I might've left the windows open to better hear the exhaust as I wound her up and down. I don't know that I'll ever own a boring ride. It's just so unreasonable to do so.
