I met Erik last year at a CHP luncheon.......he rode a current CHP bike into the room with full lights, siren. It was tight maneuvering but he did a good job. He did an amazing job signing autographs for the next hour, as people lined up. He was gracious to everyone, and then afterwards he spent some more time chatting with fans, some of whom brought CHiPs souvenirs for him to sign, which he did. He was a very classy gentleman........btw, although a bit heavier, he looked great..........I agree Arash, very cool.

That's a great one Jim. We've owned 7...yes, 7 KZ1000 police bikes so I'm kinda burned out of those.

I wish we kept the old KZ900 Police windshield models from the late 70's that we used to have. Those are downright classic now.

Criminal Impersonation requires an act and intent. I drove a police car to a call a couple weeks ago with lights and sirens. Was I impersonating a police officer? Nope, the officer rode with another ambulance with a combative patient. He asked me if I would drive his patrol car back to the station, (right next to ours). I agreed that I would but could not put our unit out of service to do so, so, if we caught a call on the way back, that's where his car would be.

Back when I worked for a Sheriff's Department, we had guys at the shop we used take our cars and run around with the lights and sirens and caught one of them doing it. From then on, we had to put these canvas covers on the light bars that had big letters on them that said, "Out of Service"

Quick google search shows that they still make them. This was 25 years ago when we had the big rotator bars :

The saving grace is the torque and linear delivery from idle to redline. I don't know what the torque curve looks like but I'm betting it's pretty flat and starts big way down low.

The 570 lbs on the Roadsmart III tires makes it very sure footed in the turns.

It's still a big pig, no two ways about it. It's just a very nimble and surprisingly fast pig! (Pun intended )
