Absurd and false. I have personally approved every new registration since taking over as President...not a single person has been turned away.

If someone says they haven't been permitted to join, it's because they haven't wanted to join.

We are having a lot of problems with bots trying to register with our site, over 2 thousand a day.

So the automatic new registration process has been turned off for a while in hopes of getting them to stop.

But non bots (real humans) can join by sending me an email via the "Contact Us" link.

I then provide concierge service by creating a user name of their choice and temporary password for new members and setup their account for them.

They can then log in and add other information into their profile afterwards, and also change their password so it stays private.

If you watch the new posts on the forum you'll see all the intro threads from new members which clearly dispels any validity to that fake rumor...which surely originated somewhere other than the ZRXOA.

I'm sure there are lots of folks that want to rationalize their negative behavior towards the ZRXOA, but it would be nice if they approached me instead of trying to spread BS.

Bots suck.

Bots and Chinese hackers completely destroyed (totally overwhelmed) a local mountain biking forum site. Admin finally just had to abandon the site and start a new site.

Plus, with the emails not working, the system can't send confirmation emails out when you sign up, so you'd never get in anyway.

We are having a problem, don't make things worse.

People who have interest in KOTF from info on Facebook have been directed to the ZRXOA, hopefully new members.

Three have said they have received messages along the lines of no new registrations permitted.

The first time, I thought it may be their error.

The third made me ask here.

I was unaware of the new procedure, I will have them E-Mail you.

Ahhh, I can see how that would lead people to the conclusion you mentioned. Maybe that automated message can be revised to notify new registrants that it is only the automated registration that is disabled and it is necessary to submit an e-mail to the Admin to establish a new account.

That's a great idea.

I don't know how long it will be down.

Maybe only a temporary thing due to the bot issue.

Way above my pay grade, the powers that be can decide on such things.

It's an on/off button, not programmable.

Thanks Don. I have avoided all things Facebook for quite awhile but will consider investing some time there.

I focus on the board maintenance and tasks which take more effort than you'd think!

I looked through the admin posts to see if there was some notice about registration no longer functioning as I remember doing almost two decades ago.

I didn't see anything, maybe I missed it.
