You can join me in Lake Havasu City where it is only going to 109 degrees today.

Lows are in the upper 80s.

Re: Mesh jackets? Mesh pants? I want.....

I bought a lightly used Shoei X-Eleven from a member here. It flows so much air, (even with all the vents closed) I don't wear it when it's cold out (I wear a Shoei RF1000 instead).

I never would have spent as much as these cost new on a helmet, but it has made a big difference in comfort in hot weather.

Night riding has a great deal of risk in it.

Oh, and if you are trying to stay cool, don't buy black gear and a flat black helmet.

Some days, it's just too damn hot to go for a ride. Last summer was a good example. This year looks to be a contender as well.

June of this year, was the hottest June on record of all time here in AZ.

My Bell is vented. It's the first vented helmet I've ever owned. It lets some air in, but not nearly enough to keep my head cool, or make that much of a difference.

Pretty happy with my Shoei. Could be cooler but it's a full face helmet. It can only do so much.

Getting hot so I get on the road early and head into the mountains. The ride home sucks but it's only 30 minutes or so. Have mesh pants but usually wear riding jeans with knee armor.

I have all the mesh gear. But here in Bamaland even that is not good enough. July and August are pretty much NRZ's. (No Ride Zones). You can get out at 6:30am for a couple of hours but better be home, in the garage and gear off, no later than 9:00am.
I'm not completely useless. I can always be used as a bad example.

Re: Mesh jackets? Mesh pants? I want.....

I wear the mesh pants without jeans, as the jeans will block airflow. UnderArmor is better than regular underpants in the heat. A light shirt under the mesh jacket, and that is as good as it's going to get for me. I bought a mostly white Alpinestars jacket, and it has been harder to keep clean. The price of black is paid at every traffic light. I ruined the Spidi stuff I had by rubbing it on the road, but the armor stayed in place as it should have.

The Shoie RF1000 vents OK, but the X-Eleven vents great, so it's not just the brand.

If I have to go out in the heat, I use a wet vest I got from Cycle Gear.

I used it last year in 115 degree heat heading thru Utah.

You wet it down and put it under a jacket that you have closed all the vents.

The evaporation is wonderful, if you want it cooler, open a vent or two.

I don't go anywhere without it.

How thick are those vests? I've been researching options for cooling but whatever I go with I'd like to still be able to city into leathers.

The vest is maybe 1/4" thick, but I think it is actually thinner.

Dry time if you are keeping the over jacket closed maybe 4 hours.

All depends on how much air you are running thru it.

It will last thru a tank of gas for me.

I might get a bit cold from time to time, but I NEVER freeze.

Living in Montana back in the early 80's, 45 below zero was the norm. I functioned quite well in it.

I just got back from a ride around town on the Fyfiddy. It's 92 at the moment. Comfy in motion, and not too bad waiting for a light in direct sun, as long as it wasn't tooooo long. That's the white jacket working.

Folks are grabbing their spots to watch the fireworks. Redding does a pretty good show each year, so the area on the bluffs above the river are usually jammed.

They changed it from Global Warming to Climate Change a little while back.

I agree with McGov though about the NRZs, sometimes it's just too damn hot to ride - pulling on your gear when it's 100+ out sucks.

But it's the humidity that kills us here in Northern Aus (and it's WAY worse the more north you go). You dont know when to stop trying to drying yourself out of the shower as you just start sweating straight away.

I'm past the phase where I was so excited I had to ride the REX everyday no matter the destination or the weather. I want to enjoy the ride and go diff places occasionally w/my mesh helmet

Yeah, where I grew up down south the heat was quite tolerable as it was dry - but where I live now it's a struggle just to get to work without already being a sweaty mess, and once you get there you dont wanna leave the A/C!

Never been a fan of humidity. Born and raised in the PNW (Pacific North West). Spent a few years in Italy while in the military. Surprising, it wasn't humid there.

Didn't return on leave to the USA until I was done serving. Returned to Ft. Dix New Jersey in July of 1977 to complete my discharge. It was hot and very humid there.

Luckily, we arrived at about midnight, spent a few hours doing paperwork, and then I left to board a plane to return to my home in Washington State. I took a shower that morning prior to catching the plane, and as you mentioned, I was sweating like nothing I've ever experienced. It was crazy!
