Im looking for an experienced ZRX1200R mechanic local to North London

    Hi ZRXOA

Im looking for an experienced ZRX1200R mechanic local to North London MillHill NW7 upto say 15 miles radius, maybe 20miles.

Ive a very very clean 2002 ZRX1200. Seems all good apart from it likes to weave about a bit once you near 100mph. Its got pretty new tyres on, renthals, bar end weights, taller screen. None of which im told should be reason for the weaving about. Ive had 2 previous zrx's so i know they dont normally weave about at near 100mph, in fact my other 2 used to be stable as anything!

Looking for a proper REX person so they dont end up replacing all the things it doesn't need in order to stop it weaving about. Plus they can service it for me from then on too!!

This is my first post to the group so I dont even know if this is gonna post up?!?!

I look forward to hearing!! Thanks!!

Its also pretty common to be missing frame bolts on the right side, missing them can also cause this type of issue.

The forks could also be bound up if the front wheel was not installed properly. Something else to check.

This is not what you want to hear and sorry I can not help.
Mine weaves about in 3rd gear at about 100. It has not got any mechanical issues just a lot of hp and torque on a short wheelbase. Feels like itís about to take off.

Re: Im looking for an experienced ZRX1200R mechanic local to North London

This is not usual behavior for a ZRX. The symptoms usually point to an issue with steering head bearings, and the other things are worth looking into also. The 58" wheelbase is not that short in this day of compact sportbikes.

    ^^^ .Bruce.

Any service history on this bike Matt.?

Wonder when the last time they were serviced/replaced (if ever..?)

Not that big of a job to do....But first check the removable frame rail bolts are present and tight (RHS of frame to allow engine removal)

Then check/replace headstock bearings....(masses of info here to show how to do this..)

Eliminate both these "prime suspects" and go from there...

Check the swingarm pivot for tightness also.

The OEM mirrors have a great deal of drag on them, and they are angled in such a way as to "spill" the drag alternately.

I was riding with a group years ago and my rear tire got to the wear bars. The bike was weaving at 135. It had been spinning what was left of the tire, trying to push that brick through the air. Went to the cord.

I have had my ZRX1200S (with the fairing) up to 265km per hour, rock steady, absolutely no wobble.
I couldn't go any faster because the carbs simply weren't passing enough fuel through ......
