You day shifters are killing me! I gotta work till 6am Friday. After a 12 hr shift all I want to do is sleep. A late lunch would be easier for me. Yes I know it's hot but this is Florida in July.

Last thing I want to do is be half asleep on a bike. You know how a 12 hr shift drains you. Not a young man anymore. I get that it's hot..and riding in the rain is not my bag anymore either. Will have to work something out later then. This was a spur of the moment thing to meet up with a new member and eye f**k his bike. Figured we go down south cause it's my turn to trip but it can be done another time.

    Yeah, yeah, yeah, whateva.

Dennis & I rode this morning, from about 715-1030 (including a breakfast stop, of course) and it was... mmmm, shall we say somewhat warm and muggy might be a bit of an understatement? I can't imagine how much worse it'd be w/the afternoon heat index.

I let Dennis ride the FJR a bit but I think it wasn't to his liking much. Like I've previously stated, she's a top heavy beast, particularly w/a full tank and w/the worn tires, ain't easy to turn. Comparatively speaking, hopping onto his ZRX was like getting onto a kid's bike compared to the FJR- flickable to say the least. Guess I'll be ordering up some new tires as I'm sure that will cure much of the front end sluggishness.

Heading to the house at 6 am this morning I could barely keep my eyes open. People are frikkin nuts on the 4th and we ran non stop all night. That and I'm still trying to get back on night shift time being gone for 2 weeks. I thought "Hell, am I that pussified? Could I have made the trip?" In a nano second I told myself "no way". I was asleep 5 minutes after getting out of the bag! Gonna try to get one in this evening.

So, Ernie and I dodged the scattered rain showers to meet up for about an hour at the local Bass Pro shop. He's a nice guy and his Rex is just as nice! I love the belly pan and even the radiator shrouds grew on me. Whoever did the paint matched it perfectly. We had good, easy conversation and I can't wait to get a full ride in with him. Here's a couple quick pics I took before racing home to beat the rain.

Alright, Howie, we'll try again in the future. Can't imagine riding in the heat yday PM- it was brutal enough in the AM.

Spoke w/a couple shops yday about new tires so I guess I'll be ordering a couple up in the next week or so. Found a shop in PSL where the owner rides an FJR and is very familiar w/the bike. He suggested the BATTLAX SPORT TOURING T31 GT's for the FJR's. I'm generally not a Bridgestone guy but Dennis loves his Bridgestones so I guess I'm going that route. Or not. Who knows. Either way, gotta be better riding than the OE BT023's that are currently on the bike.

Get it done. I still have a few mods on the list. I have the parts but haven't had the time. And yes, even after the rain it was still blistering hot. It's a bad one this year.
