    I Did A Thing....had to have it...

I'd always been aware of these CBX bikes, as the displacement wars were going strong when I first got into this. I saw this original beast with a crowd around it, and said, "well, if I can get it for a decent price, it sure would be a friggin' hoot!" Low miles and well cared for.

Having put a few hundred miles on it, the closest thing I can relate it to is a big electric bike. Smooth, awesome power. Handles very, very well.

Replace the alternator bearings, gasket seal and o-ring...and keep an extra set of brushes with you.
...trust me...the alternator locks up and the bike is not going anywhere....and when the seal and o-ring go bad the alternator fills up with oil.

Contact Bob Snyder if you need any odd parts. Do not tell him I told ya to call we had a falling out at/before his wedding years ago. He's in the ICOA.

A close friend had once exactly like that as his 3rd CBX. I got a short ride on it - smooth, comfortable, decent handling for a heavy bike, and detuned significantly from the '79 he had. Great sport-tourer.

It's much easier to do a valve adjust on than a ZRX. No coolant, easy tool to R&R shims...MUCH easier!!

I used to fight with the fan shroud, and ask anyone here, I am a horrible mechanic, but for some reason, after taking it off a few times in a row, (because of something I screwed up on the engine build), now I have no issues at all with it. Takes me seconds to minutes to install and remove.

True itís pretty easy for me now Iíve gone in there a minimum of two times for valve adjust. Wasnít sure if the CBX had one to get out of the way

Depends on who wants to know.........and why.

Re: I Did A Thing....had to have it...

I used to own one. Bought it used with only 3800 miles on it. It was in pristine condition and stock as a rock. Bought it from the original owner.

It was the only bike I've ever owned, that if I had it parked somewhere, people would leave notes on it asking if I wanted to sell it.

It drew attention even from those who weren't into m/c's.

Sold one just like it, around 1991/92 in Kernersville, NC.

It was a good road bike, sweet sound, but way to large and top heavy for the NC back roads, it was not a Kawasaki

Yup, mostly the left over 1981's and some 1980's.

Most ended up at Bob's Used Motorcycle Parts in Phoenix. They still have oodles of parts from them.
