At 67.5KG and 75HP it wouldn't just throw you into the trees, it would be over the trees.

    I like that idea.

I'm not so sure that isn't a fake.

Not sure if that is a joke or not, but 67.5 KG...no way. 148 lbs dry is mini bike territory.

Lightest open class dirt bike I remember correctly was the Bultaco Pursang at around 200 lbs. And that was before long travel suspension!

probably right, every YZ has the CC listed on the shroud right under the YZ logo, that bike has nothing on the decal. Cylinder size looks small too.

My last dirt bike, (and nearly my last breath) was a YZ400 and it threw me off the edge and into a tree. If I had not hit the tree I would have fallen a long way. It was a 240 pound monster.

If memory serves me correctly, the biggest dirt bike that Bultaco ever made was a 350cc. A good friend of mine had one back in the day and I don't recall him bragging any about it's weight, or lack of.

When I got back into dirt riding at age 46, I bought a used '86 Husky 400WR. It was a true 90mph dirt bike... but I live in Missouri, home of tight twisty single track and rocks...many rocks. It tried to off me in so many ways I sold it to buy a KTM250SX modified by a pro rider for off road racing. It was way too much for an average rider like me, it would come out of a corner lofting the wheel and throwing a huge rooster tail. I finally settled on a KTM200 wide ratio, and won my class championship the 1st year. More is not always better.

The one time I rode a CR500, I was in 2nd gear and went wide open at low rpm.

When it hit the powerband, it felt like a tractor trailer rear ended me at full speed.

Of course my throttle hand immediately went into panic and self preservation mode.

One of my son's great dirt riding stories is cruising out of the woods and into an open field on his KTM 250 going WFO. 1/4 way into the field he is blinded by a blur to his right that turns out to be a friend of his Dad.......screaming by at twice his speed, on the rear tire, on his CR500. We've howled many times about old Bill Padgitt (for the B'ham folks: the old Owner of Dirt Bike Supply here in town) blowing his doors off on that "antiquated" dirt bike.

Went back thru my old mags to check on some weights of dirt bikes to see if my memory was close or not...

My 1975 Bultaco 360 Pursang probably was about 225LBs full of fuel. A 1974 250 Pursang weighed 218, and the only difference was a bigger hole in the cylinder. The true lightweight of the day was the 1974 Ossa Phantom. 211 wet, around 197 dry. It seems to hold the title of the lightest.

Bultaco went on to build a 370 Pursang in '77. Here is a pic of my Bul that I sold a few years back.
