How are you liking the humidity? I rolled my Zrx out of the air conditioned shop this morning to go to work and went back for my stuff. It was soaking wet from condensation when I returned:laff.

Thank you Wayne. It seems like a wonderful place but I'm spending the majority of my time with my face buried in a book.

    AV80R in TN - July 1-15 2019

So here's the hectic schedule they have planned.

All 3 written tests done the first week and then the second week is spent preparing for the oral/practical.

On the written tests, first we do Airframe, then General, then Powerplant.

The deadline to take the first test is this Wednesday, but I'm going to try and take it tomorrow (Tuesday).

You have to take a mock quiz and pass with a certain score before you can take the FAA test.

The earlier you take the mock quiz, the higher you score needs to be to qualify to take the real test.

Taking the mock quiz tomorrow AM I'll have to score 88 to be allowed to move on.

If you take the quiz right before the Wednesday test deadline, you just have to score anything over 70 to be allowed to test.

I guess that's to make sure you utilize all the study time that's needed if you are just trying to skate by with low scores and finish fast.

We started the day with a brief orientation and then a 2 hour lecture. Then I spent the rest of the time reading each possible test question once, and the answers twice while highlighting them in the book. It took me about 5 hours to do this the first time.

After class let out, I went back to my hotel room and did the whole book again (read the question once and the answer twice) in about 3.5 hours. Went faster because I didn't have to highlight and many questions were now familiar.

They requested that we go through the book no less than 1.25 - 1.5 times before we showed up Tuesday morning. Neural training to the max.

They don't want you to take the mock quiz until you've gone through it at least 2 times. I've managed to do that, so I'm going to see what happens tomorrow. If I succeed, I'll be ahead of the game and can start sooner on the General section for test #2.

Found out that we have no school on Thursday for the 4th, so I gotta figure something out to do to celebrate our independence locally. I'm sure that won't be a problem

My brain is mush so I'm going to bed.

There is a formula to figure that stuff out. The +54 or whatever refers to the distance from the datum line, which is a place selected on or in front of the airplane to measure the distance from. For most guys, you learn that stuff, and are aware of the balance issues, but might not ever run the numbers again. The mechanic has to do that when he moves weight around on the plane.
