We had a brief look around the historic "Walls of Derry"
The city of Derry/Londonderry (these are from the Siege of that City by Catholic King James 2nd in 1689) which lasted 105 days when he tried to Take the city by force..,then starve the people out.,however although more than half the population died.,they did prevail and James 2nd retreated...

This was Prior to the Battle of the Boyne in 1690 between the Catholic King James 2nd and Protestant King William of Orange..
And such is the troubled past of our country..

Brian I believe God worked overtime in Ireland... WOW it's such a beautiful place and then you add the outstanding manmade structures adds even more beauty.

My wife has been there twice before we meet and married... I've seen her pictures which it's been a while so this cranks up the urge to go. She will love to see the pictures as I have, the only problem she going to be on me to plan a trip

We are both Irish and it has always been at the top of my list to visit and she wants to go back so hopefully we can make that happen sometime soon.

Thank you so much for sharing these pictures and your beautiful family with us.

Take care and God Bless y'all

Indeed Arash.... the city had endured 105 days of siege, from 18 April to 1 August 1698 with over 4000 of its 8000 inhabitants dead and those who survived reduced to eating rats., the situation was truly dreadful....

Anyway we are traveling back to Our home town of Lisburn tomorrow (less than two hours)....however we packed quite a bit in today...

The North Coast of Ireland is truly spectacular (this is where the North West 200 takes place in a few weeks (May)

    Just kidding Brian

More outstanding pictures... I'm blown away with beautiful landscape and all the architectural buildings. If I get there I may not want to come home

Glad y'all arrived home safely and had a great time and again, thank you very much from sharing it with us. For me, it was breath taking

What a landscape. No wonder they film some of the Game of Thrones series in Northern Ireland.

I always enjoy going back to visit. It's actually nice to go with someone who is kinda of a tourist ( Susan) so I do things I normally would not have done when living there. ( Kissing the Blarney stone, Dunluce Castle and Giants Causeway as some examples.

To anyone considering the trip avoid June-September, that is the tourist high season, full of Americans clogging the roads with their tour busses and cars, driving on the "wrong" side of the road. Hotel prices double

We got married in December and suprisingly Christmas time is a great time to go. Christmas in Ireland is like nothing else on earth. Every village and hamlet lights up for it. Its not Christmas day that is celebrated, but Christmas week
F1 rules NASCAR is like dumping a box of Fruit Loops in the toilet and watching them all swirl around when flushed. Add some screaming redneck to announce the event and you could sell tickets.

Wow! Thank you for the pictures. My dad and I are the only ones in our family not to visit. My grandmother was born and raised in Ireland and then she came here to the US as a young woman.

I believe my wife and I will be putting all else off and going next year. Thank you for sharing the pictures!
