    Ultrasonic cleaner

Finally got my old Z400 seized up master cylinder apart.

Cleaning it out and noticed itís hard to clean deep in there. Have been thinking about getting an ultrasonic cleaner for a while as I know it might come in handy in the future with the ZRX.

But being a tight arse, I was wondering if they are all theyíre cracked up to be.

    What are your opinions please?
    Thanks, Deano.

    Re: Ultrasonic cleaner

I got the same brand( 15L) and love it, so far three carbs come out working perfectly. I hate the noise it makes and plan to make a sound reducing case.

You will be surprised what all you decide to clean in it.
Do your own thing but don't touch mine.

We have same one at shop. Pine sol seems to work good as a cleaning solution. We use it almost daily with good results.

    Re: Ultrasonic cleaner

FYI... before you waste a lot of time be sure to inspect the area where the piston rides inside the master cylinder housing. It must be perfectly smooth for the rubber seal to slide and not have any premature wear.

The KZ400 I just did was very corroded and pitted so MC had to be scrapped. I found a use Z1 and rebuilt it with a new piston kit... works very well.

This is what I found when I took the cap off... it's not sand, that use to be brake fluid
So you can imagine what the piston area looked like.

    Thanks Wayne,

Mine had nothing in it but the piston was seized.

Iíve got it out and have given it an initial clean, but I am yet to inspect the bore closely.

Iíll let you know what I find.

    Deano.
