It rides and turns so much better with fresh rubber. Go figure.

    $7.95 - Pinto key chain
$21.00 - hood prop rod clips

    $480.85 - 5 new Toyo Extensa 180/70R14 tires
    ---------------
    $2281.98 TOTAL

I've had two drive by offers, one for $3k and one for $4k...and that was before I got it smogged and plated for legal road use. It's not about the money for me, I've had fun getting this car going again and I'm going to drive it.

The idle isn't as good as I think it should be, so I'm going to keep driving it to see if it gets better. I spoke to Cadman and he brought up a good point about some of the valves and seats sitting open for 3 decades...they might have some corrosion/crud on them and it might take some time for them to get happy again.

Right after talking to Cadman on the phone about improving the idle, it started running better!

Iím gonna give this thing all kinds of snake oil while I keep hammering on it hard.

It gets A LOT of attention in my little town, mostly people pointing and smiling as I pass by.

I think the late model front end/grill styling (1979-80) makes people wonder what it is at first, since itís not the iconic Pinto front end of the early years...but then thereís no mistaking it as a Pinto from the rear after it goes by.

I feel like it needs to have small white vinyl lettering across the bottom of the rear hatch window: ďYes, itís a freakin PINTOĒ

Yes, good eye! Itís a very strange piece of damage. Something very specific and localized hit it and cracked the headlight surround as well, but left the hood unscathed.

Maybe the hood was up when it happened.

Itís part of the ďpatinaĒ of the car now I guess. I wouldnít know where to begin to try and pull it out and a replacement fender would kinda kill the original paintwork status of the body.

If you are going to put that Marvel in the oil, go easy with it. Might be destructions on the label. The weather is warm and the oil will thin out. Great stuff to loosen stuck lifters and such. Think of it as penetrating oil.

Funny you mention that. I was thinking about strapping one to the steering column.

    3 3/8Ē or 2 5/8Ē?

Expensive Stewart Warner 531CC 3-3/8" Tachometer
