    Rescue ZRX

While out on Damien (Connie) on Saturday visiting pretty much all of the local bike shops looking for a round headlight for the wifeís Ninja 500R I met this guy riding a late 90ís GSXR who wanted to know more about the Concours. During our chat we got talking about our other bikes and I mention the REX. Turns out he lives right down the road from me and had a red 02. He said he sold it to a guy years ago and that it was sitting outside. Said he offered the guy $1000 about a year and a half ago and he wouldnít sell it. I ask him where this guy lives and ride over. There it sat outside a trailer with weeds growing up around it fading away nobody home so I go back this morning. Guys wife is home so we get talking. The bike has sat the better part of 4 years as he had decided to clean the carbs This is a guy who obviously should never touch a tool. Long story shortened up the bike is now in my garage for the nominal sum of $200. It cleaned up fairly well as it seems algae must be a great preservative! The inside of the tank has very little surface petina and everything electrically seems to be functioning. Pulled the plugs and they looked very good. Dropped it I gear and rocked it and the engine rolls over fine. Battery is on the charger so we shall see if it spins over tomorrow. It definitely needs paint but everything is straight It will need a seat but I got two seats with it, both have seen better days

Maybe McGov will trade me a stock seat for the OEM reflectors????Name: 70A82514-02AA-45A0-99D5-5166FCD148F6.jpg

It just amazes me at how some people treat their m/c's. Never in 100 years would I do that.

At least now it has a good home and a loving owner.

    Good on you!

He has the carbs I will pick them up from him when he gets home Wednesday night. They wii probably go on the shelf as I have two complete carb sets ready to go in the garage now. I am trying to decide if I want to go through the aggravation on reinstalling the stock air box or just put pods on it. I was going to leave it all stock,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

That straightened up nicely and I had the same thought but there is zero evidence of the bike being down on either side. 21xxx on the odometer

After it sat on the charger for a few hours I keyed it on and all the lights work but the even bigger bonus was it cranked over with no abnormal noises. Going to drop the oil and filter thatís in it tonight and put new in it. I hope to have it fired up by this weekend

    Re: Rescue ZRX

Started the clean up. The wheels look pretty darn good for the first wipe down. Took the exhaust off as it had water in it. Intake and exhaust ports are clean and it cranks over. Going to do a little more clean up and mount a set of carbs on it. Have to reinstall the overflow coolant tank and top up the coolant for a warm up run on the stand. Cleaned out the tank, checked the fuel sender worked and cleaned it up. Oil/filter change and it should be ready to fire up to see if it makes any unusual noises and shifts through the gears. I will probably check the valves after I know it runs ok before putting it all back together Some pics below from arrival at the house yesterday and some from tonight
