    1985 VF1000R's. (x4)

Went looking for a decent VF1000R in the summer and ended up with a decent one and 3 others. The 3 others will become one which will be restored in the European colour scheme.

the 3 to go into 1

    the decent one

Best of the 3 frames stripped and powder coated

Rebuild starts, this engine weighs over 200lbs so the frame has to be maneuvered over the engine, its pretty much impossible to install this engine into a rolling frame without scratching anything, so installing the frame around the engine is far easier and likely how Honda did it at the factory

here is where im at now...

Cool Build on a great bike

I had one and traded it to a friends Dad for a CBX Tour model as I really wanted another CBX, destroyed the CBX on the way home from

Great bikes. I like these old Hondas.

My brother chose his 1000R over the 1100R for our tour through Scotland this summer.

I'd LOVE to have a VF1000R but those things are crazy expensive here in Europe.

    Yeah......tell me about it.!

I could have got a really good red one in a dealership a lot of years ago for £1850...

Looked at it a number of times for a while each time...but I didn't bother..

NOW I regret my procrastination.......as they are worth money now.!

    Same here!

It like the other 3 things in my life I regret not buying.
    1. Seaside property in the Southern Cape of South Africa. I was about to buy a property as young lad but thought it irresponsible to buy a property 1600km from where I lived and worked. Ended up those properties went up 10 times in value. Literally 10 times.
    2. VW Samba busses were cheap at about that same time.
    3. I actually could afford a Ferrari 400i which were the runt of Ferraris back then. Now they are worth a fortune.

My 85 VF500F, that I built into a VF500R Rothmans. Targa lower Fairings, Cut upper fairing, Cut windshield, Lower clip-ons, Slash cut exhaust, Cut front fender, 2 tone seat, shorty lever, Bar end mirrors, smaller turn signals, etc. Honda never built a VF500"R", nor did they ever build a Rothmans VF500 Interceptor....so I did it

Bought a new '85 V65 Sabre and quickly became a fan of Honda's V4 engine, never had the 750, but both the big and little versions are excellent.

    Absolutely love this bike.
Most beautiful production bike ever built, in my humble opinion.
Had a chance to ride one a few times many moons ago. Briefly dated a woman who was a widow of a sailor killed on the USS Stark. Her husband's bike, she wanted me to give her rides on it.
    Certainly!

My neighbor across the street owned a VFR1000 while I lived for 20 years in NC, he had bought it brand new !!.
It was completely stock, he only drove it to work weather permitting, about 40 mile round trip, rarely drove it otherwise, never joined me for rides in the mountains
It was in perfect used condition, he sold it just before I moved for 1K, got a Blackbird, same drill

Honda hadn't yet gotten as far as completely covering the machinery with plastic until the Hurricanes came out and those things look like a wet cat with the fairings off, but these look good under the plastics.

My uncle had a Ď85 VF500 brand new and put those same aftermarket side fairings on it. I remember thinking it was the most beautiful thing Iíve ever seen at the time. I got to sit on it when I was 8 years old and he started it. That was the day I got hooked on motorcycling/sport bikes.

Yes, the local upholstery shop did it. $175 CAD, and I have the rest of the yard of blue vinyl for another seat or 3 some time. They do nice work for sure.

I owned an 86 VF500 like that. Very sweet bike. Sold it when I went to the Kawasaki side of life which I have stuck with for over 30 years. Rode a friends VF1000R briefly. Very nice bike, and loved the whine from the gear driven cams.
