My custom swing arm pivots for Gordon...

Invariably when I make something it tends to be a 'one off' for myself...however sometimes.

Well Gordon has been quite kind to me on numerous occasions and he was wanting something I'd made for my my bike a while ago....http://www.zrxoa.org/forums/showthre...wing-arm-pivot

In fact he was wanting two...

Anyway I finally got some spate time to do these for him...and they will be winging their way to him in the next few days...

I needn't go over the entire process again as it is clearly laid out in the link to the above thread..however I took some additional shots along the way and I may amend that thread with them..

So here is a scant run through (for a much more indepth discussion check out my dedicated thread pertaining to these (comparison weights etc all listed...)

Anyway I will let these few shots suffice here...

I can’t thank you enough Brian and they are so sexy looking I’m truly blessed the have four of your one off /threee off parts on my bike ! When you did the first thread on yours the pivot bolts went on National back order I ordered in 2017 and not received till2018 about three months!! You have Quite a impact with your Creations

I might as well let the cat out of the bag now and say , Throughout my modifications many members helped me with advice and guidance!!! Arash , kwick, and others !! Thank you all ! But Steve 516 has bent over backwards helping me and putting up with my dumb question and is still to this day helping plan my next few moves . Anyway I wanted the second pivot to give to him as a thankyou for all the help !! Thanks buddy

Brian : Again I am forever in your debt and appreciate this more than you’ll ever know Thank You again SIR

Re: My custom swing arm pivots for Gordon...

Thanks Guys....although all the measurements corelate with the origonal one I made for my own bike I just want to do a final check..

I will temporarily re fit the swing arm into the 2001 'tidy up' bike...along with the rear top and bottom engine bolts and spacer..

I want to button everything up (temporarily) to ensure the frame hasn't 'spread' slightly with all this removed at the moment...and I want to double check I have the calculated 9mm of exposed M20 x 1.50 thread available (on both) sides of the frame..

If all is well (although I'm convinced it should be due to the measurements) I will at this point remove the collars from these pivots...clean the threads with brake cleaner and re fit using Red Thread lock..(I dont want these to ever back out..)

Only then will I release these to Gordon...and he can pass one of them onto Steve...

It was late last night ...so I will address all this when I get home from work this evening..

    Thanks again

Re: My custom swing arm pivots for Gordon...

Ok so as promised ....I cleaned up the filthy swing arm and fitted it to my 2001 'tidy up' project...also fitted the two rear engine mounting bolts...(I took the one from my 2017 BOTY and fitted it in the 2001 bike...I have a brand new one which I will fit in that bike ...sometime..)

Also fitted the 'spacer' and the bottom rear engine mounting bolt and its bracket...

I wanted everything in place..so I could then fit each swing arm pivot in turn and torque up to ensure they both were 100% before sending them off to Gordon...(they were....as I knew they would be..)

Very nice work. My son just started CNC machine school and I will share this with him. They do it with modern stuff but he is already buying older stuff for himself to use. He has robotics class completed his senior year of high school that goes toward a degree. Gordon has a true one of a kind that keeps getting better.
