Up between Russellville and Cherokee off 247. There are some nice roads up there. 65 north out of Russellville up to Muscle Shoals is good.

I agree! That is the best to just wander the back roads and see what you find. When I was working the Redstone Arsenal Project in Huntsville, had to go back to Memphis a couple of times and passed that sign for the Coon Dogs cemetery. I so wanted to go see it, but didn’t. Still on my “ToDo” list....

Safe riding and beautiful bike sir!

Good to see some interesting places around N Alabama, even the abandoned places got some stories to tell.

    Nice bikes at the TGPR.

Yea it's a cool lil' track ! I haven't been since there since the 80's. The original owner was taking up donations to build it. The offer was that if you donated, you could get a track day. I don't remember how much he donated. No more than the asphalt was put down, Dad loaded everything up and we took off there ! LOL

Dad's racing rig was a late 70's Dodge Maxi van with a homemade trailer loaded up with his 79 CB750 F. He later had a RZ350. It was about a 3 hour drive to get there but it was a lot of fun.

The track has changed and improved a great deal. I hope to visit there more often.

Some really nice looking old race bikes... I found what looks to be the ignition system mounted on the left side of the 73 Z1 to be most interesting at least that's what it looks like.

Thanks for posting the pictures... I'm sure it was a fun ride

I used to race at TGPR. Was one of the original donors. Mike and Dave Upchurch built it. They were owners of the Kaw shop in Talladega. One of the guys I had to compete against was Scott Russell. Had lots of fun there.

Nice! I have only gotten the chance to run the track the other direction once. It was a hoot.
