    Flat Tire

    Question:
Today went to check on my bike stored in a std. 6x15' wooden vented Hip roof shed...
And new (last June) rear tire was flat......
The fact that that tire sat FLAT... during the winter......?
Is the sidewall destroyed for this yr.'s riding season....?

    thx guy's

The first order of business is to figure out why it went flat. If there is a hole or crack in the sidewalk, then yes, the tire is toast. If there is a hole (screw, nail, etc.) in the tread, the best repair option requires the tire to be removed. The carcass can then be inspected from the inside for signs of damage (cracking, severe creasing, etc.). If once off the rim the tire returns to full roundness, that would be an indication that the carcass is fine.

In short, it requires further investigation to arrive at an answer to your question.

    Re: Flat Tire

I've had a very slow leak in the rear for 2 years after installing new tires & a right angle valve stem- actually keeps me honest and tire wear seems better.
First Winter I didn't think about it and was on the side stand and went flat (late nov-may), didn't hurt it at all.
Put bike up on rear stand in the Fall last year, tire fine still.

    I'd run it.

No, I said you need to figure out why it went flat and determine if it actually sat with the sidewall fully creased. Many times flat tires barely even look flat, depending on what kind of tire and how stiff the carcass is.

I of course havenít seen the tire. I simply told you what to look for. Hoping of course itís no big thing and youíre back up and running with minimal effort.
