4 Hour Iron Man race this weekend.

I don't know which concerns me more. That I'm actually considering doing a four hour long off road race this weekend. Or that my wife really likes the idea of me doing a four hour long off road race this weekend.

Is a person crazy if they recognize that what they're contemplating doing is crazy? Or would a person that doesn't recognize a crazy act as crazy be crazy?

Here is some onboard I found on YouTube of a single lap of the place where this event is to occur.

So at 17:44 / lap, that would equate to 13.5 laps in a four hour time span if it could be done non-stop.

That brought back a ton of great memories. I was even moving my body around watching the video as my wife laughed. I am pretty sure that at 61 I probably couldnít do it for 4 hours!!

A 2 stroke with a rekluse clutch seems the way to go. That guy in front is so smooth, seemed like he was working half as much as the camera bike. At the very end that guy blitzes him on the jump and blows the corner. Great video.

Re: 4 Hour Iron Man race this weekend.

Having watched a few YouTube videos of some of the races this series holds, I think I've come to my senses. I like riding this kind of stuff. And my "race pace" is typically pretty competitive. But I don't like feeling forced to ride as fast as I possibly can (i.e. truly racing). I participated in an MX race many years ago and even though I did REALLY well, I HATED it. I hated that sense of urgency.

I'm also a really cheap bastard and don't like the idea of spending $70 to truly beat myself up for 4 hours. I'll spend $20 to play there for a day though, at my leisure.

Weird that I like endurance racing street bikes, but not off road bikes.

I don't think your a cheap bastard Chris... you spend money on what you like and want we see that here by items you buy and share with us... I think when we're young we spend money to prove something to ourselves or others and some just for the fun of it but as we get older we don't have as much to prove because there is a lot we have done.

Now it may be we feel we have to prove we can still do it... so for this you have nothing to prove and would rather save money and riding there when you can enjoy riding the same area.

I know the road racing you do is pretty brutal... but this type of racing IMO is more tacking on the body at least to me it seems like it would be... you would have a better judge than I would. I know when I raced motocross it was a body beating but fun time.

Well if you change your mind and go... good luck!

Too bad they don't have an abbreviated one hour version.........I'd bet you would be very tempted on that version Chris!

We do have a few series around us that have shorter sprint enduros, I think Chris is a lot like me
in the aspect we enjoy playing on our off road bikes. Although Chris, Sam and I have been thinking of going out
for one of the races later this year for fun get a group of us to all start on the same Line and just have fun.

4 Hour Iron Man race this weekend.

Iím certain that if I even managed to survive the whole 4 hours, I wouldnít be able to move for days.

That was tiring just watching the video!
