With Arash's help, I believe I made the connection with CA Pete and the Bikurious proprieter who has the RS for a week. I hope they get together so we have a side-by-side comparison of the ZRX and RS both the good and the bad. Should be an interesting review based on an unbiased bike lover and an unbiased ZRX owner. haha

Yep, I talked to Abhi a few days ago, Kawasaki is supposed to be giving him an RS this week. Preliminary plans are to ride it up PCH and into the Malibu Alps, as Rick61 calls them.

Re: Who is going for the new Z900RS?

According to the shop I stopped at yday, Kawi released a dribble of ZR900S' in the past few weeks, will release another dribble in January and the rest of the allotment in February. He did not expect a large number shipped to every store. He told us that 3 went to a shop in JAX, FL recently, 2 black ones, 1 root beer orange one, but they had no idea who was getting what or how many. He said the dealers were often the last to know or get any details.

Yay! I'm glad it worked out! I think this is the best comparison for people that are interested in this kind of retro bike. I'm looking forward to your thoughts on the good and the bad.

I think I'll wait until they fix the fueling issues.

I'd like to check out the 2-tone green one
(Not the cafe) , if they bring it here.

Elsewise , the brown one would be fine.

I do wish they'd fix the front fender mounts.
No need for that crap. The original Z1 didn't
have that, nor the ZRX. A simple fender with
mounting bolts would be just fine.

Looking forward to the direct comparison with the ZRX that you guys have organised.....

Seeing it with Arash sitting on it (who @5' 10" is an average sized guy) and then seeing him on the ZRX is quite telling though.....

Does it look a little small....??

Uhm... the Z1 and ZRX had right way up forks... These mounts act as fork tube protectors (for the USD fork inners) as well as mounting the fender.

I have a deposit on one at our local shop. The first root beer and orange one already had a deposit on it so I get the second one. I will do a full ride report once it comes in. Its been awhile since I owned a ZRX (1999) so not sure I will have the best comparison data to the ZRX.

Congrats! I think youíre the first person I heard of on the board that actually has a deposit down and is buying one.

Good choice on the color. I havenít seen the orange one in person but the black was kinda blah.

I think the new bike will be small when compared to a ZRX
the modern adverts show it with female riders and it does not look big on them.
will be very interested to see if the side by side photos/ measurements bear my theory out.

There are so many little things that honour the Z1. That glitter in the paint, the font used on the dials, the angle of the needles at rest...

EXACTLY!!! I was only 14 when the Z1 came out but I remember it ruling the streets in my little town in Pennsylvania. I was mesmerized by it and how fast it was. My best friends older brother had one and he would let us take it for little spins. It was truly a benchmark bike and a game changer for motorcycling.

Went to the travelling Progressive motorcycle show last weekend and at least got to sit on one.
It was okay I guess. They only had the black and orange one, not the green one with unibrow.

Jerky throttle response is usually due to the federally mandated zero throttle fuel cut. Reflash is the easiest fix.

I don't think he meant a black and orange one. I think he meant a black one and an orange one.

But the green is not coming to the States this year. Prolly will next year, so I may have to wait for it, since it will definitely be faster.

No, I meant black and orange, don't care what their marketing department says it is.
