Same car but they are WORLDS apart.
I think this is more a representation of the skill level of the people working in the respective plants and the level of technology placed in said plants that need skilled people to use it. In other words, while the cars may look the same, due to the method of manufacture they aren't really even the same cars at all.

That being said, I would bet the frames for the Z900RS are still being made in Thailand but shipped to Japan for final finishing.

Who is going for the new Z900RS?

Sat on a black one today at GP Sports in Santa Clara, CA.

They got an orange one a week ago and it sold. They have a deposit on another orange one that will arrive in 2 weeks.

This black one is available for $13,800 out the door.

The black doesnít get me very excited, I think Iíd like the orange one more.

The key is inserted in a hidden flap under the rear fender to remove the seat. Kinda strange.

Tools are captive in the bottom of the seat pan

12V accessory socket under the seat where the rear passenger sits

Not much storage, but thatís the norm these days.

Salesperson said the traction control settings donít reset every time you start the bike. Meaning, if you turn off traction control, itís off until you turn it on again.

My buddies has to turn his off on his ZX-10 every time he starts his bike. Total PITA.

He said you can disable the ABS by doing a burnout for at least 3 seconds every time you start the bike LOL!!!

It really looks tiny - how tall are you Arash?

Good idea with the power outlet and the tools under the seat but do I see it right that the wingnuts for the tools bracket are pressed from sheet metal? Just a minor detail but looks really cheap and the threads are bound to fail quickly I'd guess...

The Orange is DEFINITELY the colour to go for.
I think the pic with Arash on it is a bit misleading. I live in NL, literally the tallest nation on the world, and no-one looked strange sitting on it at the launch.

Anybody in the LA area want to do a bike swap test ride with a blogger that is going to get the new 900 for a week of test riding and is interested in doing a comparison with the ZRX? http://www.bike-urious.com/what-do-y...wasaki-z900rs/

Adam, check your PMs. I sent you Ca Pete's phone number. He is in LA, has a ZRX, and is the best candidate IMO for a z900RS comparison.

Re: Who is going for the new Z900RS?

Thanks Arash. I've got a message in on the Bikurious comments section where I have been corresponding with Abhi. I didn't think that CA Pete would like his phone number plastered all over the web.

I also noticed it says there that the Cafe version won't import to the US. That sucks. Maybe they will bring it here with a better paint scheme and uprated suspension?

Who is going for the new Z900RS?

I donít know how much of this is true, but the salesperson I talked to claimed that Kawasaki USA is testing the waters to see if the bike will even sell in the USA market.

He alluded to the fact that if it sells well, then they would probably bring the entire lineup to our shores here in the USA.

Re: Who is going for the new Z900RS?

I got to see and sit on a black one at the family Kaw dealer today (my wife's cousin owns the store). Really like the way it looks, and it does look a little smaller than the Rex, and feels lighter too, at least at a standstill. The bars felt a bit tall to me, and the reach to the footpegs felt long, bending my knees much less than the Rex - a comfortable feeling overall. I need to get down there with my gear to get a test ride. I asked if they were getting the orange/brown bike, and he said the first one is already sold before it gets in. He has another on order though.

If I were looking for a new bike, this would be my main contender. Hard for me to justify $12K plus tax when that much could get me a really sweet Rex (or make one of mine awful nice!).

I took a look at it at the new york bike show. I like the retro Z1 look. But I already have the best looking retro bike ever made. And with this winters MODS it will be even better
