Very rare bike here in the US. My uncle had one back in the day...

PM me for great prices on Íhlins shocks and forks!

Too pretty to get all dirty and scarred up.........(private) museum piece for that kind of $$$. There are still a few around here in the USA, but they typically bring top-$$$ when sold. Personally, I think a modern day Vstrom/Versys will perform just as well "on an Adventure".......and cost much less (used).
Kinda like the Honda GB500, Kawi W650, Honda Hawk 650, the Transalp retains high-value as a used bike.

i clearly remember when these were in production. Hard to believe that they want so much money for it

I think he's trying to recoup his restoration money. As well as playing on the exclusivity angle.

agree. Looks like it was garaged as well

reminiscent of the more modern Africa Twin.

Yes, the Tengai was pretty much a KLR with a few more plastic covers, bigger brakes and bigger forks. I've seen one in person locally, it is a cool bike but very hard, almost impossible, to find.

This one was at the Vintage Gig in Suches last weekend.........picture "borrowed" off ADV Rider Forum. There are 12-15 more pics of classic bikes from that event on that forum. I will try to post some of those pics here today on the thread under "Southern Region".

It was a very common bike in Switzerland and France. Used examples are plentiful and very cheap.

It appears the one in the original post #1 (CL ad) has sold on the ADV Rider forum.......going to Oregon, I believe.

It's amazing to see the reach of local CL postings.
