Received my Freeway Blaster horn for the V Strom 1000. Now all I have to do is get it installed. Suzuki, in their infinite wisdom, placed the OE horn between the radiator and the front cylinder behind lots of bodywork!!!

    Cadman nailed it below!

It was 40F out and I didn’t tape off enough of the radiator and the top cylinder cold seized.

Decided to dig out one of my other projects again , Its been sitting for a long while ..... so I started re-routing the wire harness to factory set-up , Then I took the throttle assy apart for sandblasting & repaint , Installed the back half of the exhaust & supertrap , Just mostly bs stuff too keep busy , I really dont believe this bike will ever get back together as I have tried to find wheels for it for many years and other stuff but I did buy all new body panels before they got discontinued .

no pics of before but it was all chipped up

When I bought these Silverstone pipes from Terry a couple years back, he sent along two sets of end-cans. I immediately installed the Cone Engineering reverse megaphones. They worked well with the jetting I selected with the tiniest dip in response between the pilot and main jets. They also made glorious pops when back-shifting! I had not gotten around to getting 38 pilot jets.

Last fall I saw a Norton Comando in black with the longer reverse megaphones.....It got me to thinking. After the straffing run I went up to attic of the barn and got the longer set of Silverstone cans down and installed them.

After test riding the bike, I think they are keepers. The additional length, or perhaps backpressure from the baffles has smoothed out the transition from pilots to mains and the popping on back-shifting is gone. They sound quite nice. Truth be told, the jetting that I was using all along, was suggested by the W650 shop in Germany for this pipe with these cans. Terry had a set of flatsides on his W650 along with the short cans and these pipes. That is likely the difference.

Well my other bike(Wife's) is a scooter, Linhai Aeolus 300, is kind of a Yamaha chinese clone, been told Linhai is one of the best for quality out of china, having fun fixing/upgrading stuff on this thing, HD upgrades to CVT and all possible services have been done.
Getting ready for spring/summer, clean belt/pulley areas, repainted cover, installed DIY white scothbrite CVT air filter , new Michelin 2CT tires, this thing will do almost 90 China MPH(80 MPH) on 12 in. tires

Re: What did you do to your OTHER BIKE today?

Started fabbing up a rear fender for the Ruck, most guys (in the US) just have a tiny R6 fender mounted just to stop spray - but in Aus it needs to be a LOT bigger - so there arent any off the shelf options that will meet our guidelines.

I'll be recreating those mounts in round bar and mounting BOTH under to clean it up a bit.

The real WTF moment was finding two small ball bearings and springs under the bike right after I got the engine out. I racked my brain trying to figure out where in the heck they could have come from. Eventually I discovered that they came out of the T-handle socket tool I was using.

Had to pull the V Strom tank to access and change the air filter as well as install a Speedo correction device. The speedo was indicating 75 mph however my GPS indicated 65 mph. Way too far off to leave uncorrected. The air filter was NASTY DIRTY. Damn that's a big ass gas tank!!! 22 liters (5.8 gallons). Thankfully I ran the tank as low as possible before removal.

Hopefully, first ride of the season on the Glas Ceat Hair Daeg, on new M PR-5s.

Yanked the air filter this winter during servicing, and was shocked to see how packed it was, I guess the ram air is more effective than I imagined.

Yeah, 14 air filters take a beating.

Got the SV1K track rat finished. Engine mods this winter, fabbed exhaust hangers, fluids, re-valve and re-spring suspension, electrical bypass stuff, removal of all lights,
new lighter mag rotor and chain / sprockets. Had to do seals on the forks last night. They were fine when I re-sprung them a month ago but noticed one was wet while doing a walk around. Figures.

    Taking it out on Monday.
