373 Pounds with four gallons of gas

I decided to go on a little quest since I spent a weekend with KWICK's ZRX. It might be a neat idea to see how much weight I can par off my Ninja 300 just for kicks. I have already done some weight saving things but I am sure that there are more things that can be done.
Maybe a few hours with KWICK can give me some ideas. So, 373lbs right now and we shall see what we can do. Target would be something like 350lbs. That would be sweet.

Ben, you could have made a lot of money in Kernville, we all wanted to ride your bike. If you would have sold tickets, you could have made a killing.

That's going to be a tough 23 lbs to lose for that bike.

LiPo battery and bar end mirrors immediately come to mind, and will get you half way......maybe

The wheels are pretty heavy. I know that Galespeed makes some wheels that will fit. Might be worth a 6-8 pound reduction. My current mirrors are real Carbon fiber and don't weigh that much.

Those wheels look mighty spindly. You might be looking at CF wheels if you really want to see to significant weight reduction there.

The mirror housings may be CF, but the long stems and certainly the large glass mirror panes are not. Definitely some "significant" weight to be lost there.

Stock exhaust system vs. Aftermarket??? Usually some weight to be lost there in most bikes.

Aluminum Rear Sprocket vs. Steel.........even tho I hear the All-U-mini-um versions don't last long at all..........

The Titan Tough aluminum rear sprocket from Sprocket Specialists will last and has lasted as long as a steel sprocket on my ZRX.

If the proper aluminum alloy is chosen and it's properly hard anodized.

Hard anodized clutch "steels" are harder than steel.

Look it up, hard ano is often harder than steel.

First thing to do: Detach that trailer. That's at least 300 lbs right there.
