I've been working on this pair since winter... Paid 1600 (plus about 1k in farkles and maintenance) for the 1999 DR650 and 1400 (plus about 500 including nice '99 tank and seat) on the 1994 DR350.

There are tons of trails crazy places around here to explore, so we're having fun brapping around.

I like standing on the pegs and riding around for miles and I don't feel bad leaving the DR in the work parking lot, baking in the sun... my silver stripes are taking a beating on the zrx.

Does that 350 start ok when the engine is hot? All the ones I've ridden won't start once hot. Just about killed me trying to start one in the woods one summer.

Great bikes, I've had 2 of them (off-road versions), dual-sports are great for commuting. Hard to beat dual sport riding and exploring.

Does that 350 start ok when the engine is hot? All the ones I've ridden won't start once hot. Just about killed me trying to start one in the woods one summer.

Never had this problem with my 93 model year.

Apparently Suzuki made a small mod to the carb to cure this issue from that year on, though I can't remember what it was exactly (something to do with venting maybe).

The only thing I remember perfectly is that my riding buddy had the same bike but it was a 1991 model year and man, what a pain in the arse it was to start when hot (especially after it was dropped) ...

I sold it in December 2000 and started working in the UK a month later, then I bought my first road bike there in 2002 (Honda CB 400 Super Four) which was a grey import from Japan.
A couple of years later, I bought my ZRX 1100 ELR and brought it back to France in 2006, I still love it as much today than I did 12 years ago ...

My riding buddy never switched to road bikes and he is still dirt riding with a 400 DR-Z now ...
I miss my trail riding days but can't afford having 2 bikes and the Rex is here to stay for a long time ...

yeah, seems to start fine.

the street model doesn't have a flat slide or a hot start or a compression release.


it was pretty hot this evening and i have the mix screw out 3 turns or a little more.. it kept dying at idle.

My proudest mod (is that a thing?) is the kickstand shortening of the dr350 after putting a kouba 3 inch lowering link on it.

I got that lean f'n perfect.

I was about to sell the 650 - had to adapt an fcr39 and go down a tooth on the front.
