That looks pretty Damn Awesome Kevin
How's it feel with the ZRX suspension , more stout than the stockers you removed obviously , I mean swingarm , shocks , forks and it has that Retro look to it .
I like the Carb adapter as well , it's some nice work for someone without a water jet or other type cutter and I think would be absolutely killer a bit shorter both vertical and horizontal with circular ends
But it does seem to have " Skunk Works " Experimental look to it though .
Either way though , that looks great !!!

Did it all with my die grinder and a rotary file! I plan on making the intake plate prettier after testing is final.

Regretfully I'm project rich and time poor... We have WAY too many projects and need to thin the heard. Already started by selling a couple of bikes but more should go.

    Just moved/house projects:
    - Trying to build/finish the shop (project keeps getting more involved like projects tend to do)
    - Finished tile and wet bar project this winter
    - Planting trees this spring (29 trees and 39 bushes so far)

Bikes and cars are waiting on the shop so zero progress for now

    Bikes:
    - 2 ZRXes in varying states (one just needs final assembly after a braced swing arm)
    - GPz is regretfully a low priority (thoughts of selling it)
    - KLR650 good riding condition but have a pile of upgrade waiting on time/shop completion

    Cars:
    - 32 Chevy street rod, maybe 40-50% done
    - 64 Chevelle, driver but have many parts/big plans
    - 65 Cutlass convertible, more or less drivable but needs restoration (may sell it?)
    - 69 Camaro, blown apart for more or less ground up restro mod/pro tour type build; wife's car, was her daily driver 28 years ago
    - 73 CJ5, 73k mile original but could use freshened (likely sell this one)
    - 81 CJ8 (Scrambler), 38s, 1 ton locker axles, TPI 350, etc.... far from done (should sell but can't bring myself to let it go)
    - 98 TJ, finished, built for wife: air lockers, long arm, 35s, many, many upgrades (may sell this one as well)
    - 01 Z28, low mile (~57k) LS1/T56/larger brakes, long tube headers, 3" exh, cowl hood, etc..., was wife's driver (might sell as well)

Have had most of these for years and very stupidly I split my budget and time between them instead of tackling them one at a time. What a moron

Of the above we would not consider selling the ZRXs, 32, 64, and 69. If I had a brain that alone should be enough justification to sell all the rest of them and focus on these 5 however I'm probably not that smart

Seeing your exceptional version of the GPZ makes me want to hang on to my bike. Pretty sure that makes me some sort of sick/obsessed individual.

I really like what you did. I am very interested to the same carb conversion on my 81 GPZ

Do the ZRX carbs align with the GPZ head? On my KZ1000 between 2&3 carbs do not align. Your manifold would cure the only real issue of intake spread.

There is a slight spacing issue between 2 and 3, but if you look closely to my intake manifold I ported the holes to match the odd shaped Zrx boot tapering down to a perfect circle on the Gpz head, as well as a slight angle outwards to accommodate the spacing.

Real nice work, how much time do you have in it? I will probably go the route of epoxy on the manifolds, cut, and weld the brackets for the carbs.

4 hours into the manifold. Porting the holes is slow and tedious to get them just right.

Making my own aluminum motor mounts

My son was supervising me making sure I did it right.

    Working on the rear mount.

There are two brackets for the rear mount, one is to mount the battery box, the other is for the brake light switch, I don't need the brake light switch because the new Zrx rearsets have it's own.

I'm going to get some thicker gauge aluminum angle and I'll have a friend tig weld it on.

I did the same mounts on my little KZ650. Amazing how a simple little thing can make a
big difference in the looks of a project.

Kosman Specialities has about a million of those floating around last time I was there. They are made out of steel to "keep engine from flexing the frame @ high power levels." (racebikes) For a streetbike I think your ok w/aluminum. Most of the racing KZ1K's back them used'em.

However recently Kosman retired, & I don't know how much stock (if any) he has left. ATT his stuff was a super deal, we bought lots from him...

Very nice! My Lawson looked just like that when I first bought it, not near as clean though.

    I sold a 1981 Gpz 550 a couple years ago and I miss it.

Someday id like to do a restoration of one with my own little twist.
