older pic, reflectors are now correct yellow in front, red in back. 28 mm Mikuni carbs are now correct, 26s were removed and sold as shown.

Seriously looking at pulling the Kerker, replacing with factory pipes and stock air cleaner. Installing the chain oiler tank but not making it functional(just for looks).

    Too many decisions!

I have none of the chain oiler stuff. When did K stop including them? Is it worth making a functional set up?

Iíve only ever seen the chain oiler on the Ď73ís. The chain cover has the mounting provision on the Ď74 &í75 but didnít have the pump or reservoir.

Most guys didn't run them in fact they removed them, makes quite a mess as well. Besides you could always do what Mitch 101 used on his ZRX a zip tied 60 cc syringe. Just reach down and squirt some oil! God bless his heart!

Most common removal items on Z-1 ones ; chain oiler, stock pipes - replace with Kerker, and air breather system for pods! Reason I know is I live it! Street and Strip!

Z-1s and KZ motors are indestructible!

    Hey Zed
I'm not completely useless. I can always be used as a bad example.

Progress has slowed as I'm doing more work around the ranch. I'm going to order more goodies this week and get back on the ball.

Joe, thanks for keeping this series going. I'm enjoying the reading when I'm not outside shoveling snow.

    Re: 1975 Z1

The latest progress report: there has been no progress. I have finished the concrete floor in bay 2 of the tin shed. I've also started on a side patio to stop erosion alongside the house.

So Zed has stalled. I need about $1000 more in parts and it should be rideable. The weather is cooling down and concrete season will be over soon. I hope to get back on the Zed in the next months.

We've (meaning Berk) have put all the Zed story on one page:

I think a valve adjustment will be the next step. It's cheap to do and I bought the little tool that holds the valve down.

Great committment to bringing a classic back to life. Great read and great project!
Silver REXs are sooo subtle - they slide right under the enemy's radar, then WHAM - they're dead!

03 REX - Akra, K&N pods, Ivan's jets, Teds Advancer, airbox out and chainguard, Chrispy's mirrors, Biscuits rearsets, Greg's brace, Armz shift linkage, Wog's seat, 'n some other stuff

    84 KZ1100R - Yosh, K&N, fork brace
    82 GPz 550 - Hindle
