    Seat Upgrade

What is the best seat upgrade or replacement for the stock ZRX seat?

Welcome, a lot depends on your butt.. Some folks like Sergeant, some like Corbin, some send the stocker off to Mr. Wog for a redo.

    Re: Seat Upgrade

Thx guys. The stock feels good to me but (no pun intended) is tiresome after awhile. My GF finds the back position too quick to tire her. But the other seats may not help anyway. Any of your girls find the Corbin or Sargent better for them?

    Re: Seat Upgrade

I've had CORBIN and SARGENT on the Rex....the CORBIN was better, I could ride longer without azzburn, but again everyone is different.

Usually the wider and firmer the seat the longer you can go.

    Re: Seat Upgrade

That being said, I'd go with the Sargent seat.

I just got back from a 4600 mile trip to Calgary Canada from Corona California.

It was done in less than 2 weeks with many 400 and 500 mile days. I had no issues at all with my Sargent.

My butt wasn't the problem but my old creaking knees were.

I had a Corbin and won't own another. Too heavy and too hard. Maybe they didn't have soft 2X4s on the day they made mine.

I am not the full figured guy Jerry is, I weigh 180 pounds.

    So YMMV.

I run 1/2" rise bars and rearsets, with that combo, I love the stock seat.

Some folks like a sheepskin pad for the long trips. Alaska leather is the place for those.

Corbin Gunfighter on both my Zrx's. If I had the money, I'd like to try one of these. Not cheap though.

    Re: Seat Upgrade

All depends on your weight, length of average ride, and buttnicity.

Iron Butt Ride: 1044 miles in 19 hours: both my riding bud, Kennyz, and I chose Corbin.

A day in the CT twisties: he switches to Wog, I pick a Sargeant.

The BEST way to research? Get some buds, go riding, switch seats.

For extreme rides: an 800mg Ibuprophen rocks.
Just say no to mumbo jumbo.

I doubt. Therefore, I might be.

    Re: Seat Upgrade

I bought a CORBIN Gunfighter for my Z1. It's made well and looks great, but feels like like a wooden plank on extended rides. On the ZRX I've got the stocker and it feels pretty good. I have a friend who swears that Sargeant is more comfortable. May be true.

I'm 6'2" 230 and looking to add a little hight to the seat as well as a little more comfort. Are any aftermarket seats flatter (not scooped down as much) as the stocker. When I jump on my 78 KZ 1000 my butt just loves that flat seat.

Try the Buell peg mod that lowers the pegs almost a full inch. Much written about it here, use the search thingy. I have a 34" inseam and the Corbin/Buell combo works for me.

    Re: Seat Upgrade

Send your seat to Mr. Wog and tell him what you want. He'll fix you up!!!

NOTE: The standard Corbin is shorter than the stock which will cramp your legs even more. I removed the rubber padding on the stock pegs to give me slightly more legroom (I'm 6'5"). Also installed the Greg Crouch 1" bar risers for additional comfort.

If money is real tight consider a SPENCER modded seat.

For about $150.00 or so you send him your stocker and he shapes it how you want it with better foam.

Just suggested this as a joint Christmas present for us this year. The Sargent has worked well for me, but not so well for the wife. This Top Sellerie seat has gel inserts, which might be just the ticket for her.

Don't buy a gel insert seat in Arizona.
They get super hot in the sun and cook your ass for about a half hour till they cool down. Ask Ben Zeppa about them.
