    2000 Rex Carb Rebuild Help

    Hey gang,

I am in the process of closing the deal on a nice 2000 Rex1100. It's been sitting for a while, and needs to have the carbs rebuilt or at the very least cleaned and sync'd. I have never done this before and I am very interested in learning how to do it myself, but I just don't want to pull everything apart and screw it up.

Are there any capable Rexxer's in the S.E. Michigan area that would be willing to help me do this in the next couple of weeks.

I have the following to contribute:

    1. Garage with good sound system
    2. Tools
    3. Beer
    4. Nearby pizza joint or BBQ grill
    5. Positive attitude with eagerness to learn
    6. $$ if needed

Or, I can pull the carbs off or bring the whole bike to you.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am located in Westland, MI.

    Jon

I'm around you Jon, but I stay away from carb work.

I do have a set of clean 05 1200 carbs you could buy or Ninja11zx is just down the road from me and he works on bikes.

    Hey Sportin,

Thanks for the reply and the offer on the 05 carbs. I think the carbs I have are fine, and I would really like for someone to be able to show me the ins and outs of doing this myself. Could you point the other guy (Ninja11zx) in my direction. I would appreciate it.

If you ever want to get together and ride, shoot me a PM. I belong to a Sportbike club in the Detroit area, and we are always out riding.

    Thanks.

    Redline sportbikes ?

We got Kevin (minja11zx) and Compressor59 here Milford/Howell that I know do carb work. I went with FCR's and haven messed with the zrx CV carbs. To clean them right, you need to soak them over night, have cleaning tips etc. etc..

Post up if it will run, if so you may want to try some Chevron fuel injection cleaner in it. We have a sync. tool for that here and you could ride up and we could do it.

If it requires a complete carb cleaning, you are talking taking off the carbs etc. etc.

Yes, Redline Superbike is the club. I've been with them for 6 years now. I used to have a 2001 ZRX1200, and sold it to a guy that is out that way back in 2008(ish). Should've never got rid of it. The one that I'm looking to buy is from a guy in our club, and he lives out that way. His name is Steve and it's a Black 2000. It doesn't run right now, as he said the float bowls are stuck. If you give it gas, it just pours out.

Look in the carb section here, lots of how to get them done, we are just up the road if you run into a snag.

The 2000 BLACK is a all time favorite

When are you getting the bike ?

Hey, I'm in highland/milford area. We have a one of those ultrasonic cleaners at my work. I haven't used it yet but this sounds like a good time to try it. The biggest pain in the as$ is the carb boots to the air box. I'll send you my info. Jeff
