    Need a gear drive device.

I need a small gear drive setup with an output shaft 90* from the input that can hold up against about 3-400hp. Doesnt nessecarily have to be 1:1 ratio since the final drive will be chain and I can gear it however I want. I need to go from the output of an inline 6 mounted parallel, to a gear drive, to chain final, to transmission.
I have no rex...no bike at all... Im working on it.

Other than an actual 90 degree gear drive intended for this use (read: pricey) maybe an IRS differential from a junkyard Subaru 4wd with the spiders welded? Fairly small, fairly light, pretty durable, with lotsa mounting points built in..

Weld one spider leave the other open. Double speed! Damn good idea, BTW. I work with 90 degree RGBs but on a much smaller scale.

Here's a fractional HP unit for price reference.

400 bux isnt too bad, but i dunno if it could take the hp. Have to keep looking into it.

The subaru idea is pretty good, how big are they? Compact size is pretty important.

A Soobie rear diff? I don't have one sitting around to measure, but if memory serves, I'd say it's right around 12"H x 12"W x 14-16"L, give or take. You'd also have to deal with the extra axle stub on the unused side..maybe use it for a PTO?

That $400 unit Jim linked is just a pricing example..it's for fractional HP applications, it'd last about ten seconds or until you let the clutch out, whichever comes first.

Say, WTF is this Rube Goldberg contraption for, anyway?
I just re-read your initial post, and what I see is a chain with about four links too many..you lose a little bit of power & reliability at every link.
Why not just put a transaxle behind your engine? One link, less complexities..less crap to break.

Really john, if you have a problem, just go to another thread. You come on every one of my threads and as soon as i express my disdain. For your pathetic stalking you back down with some passive aggressive bs about "oh its all in fun and games we are all buddies here". You have even gone as far as to send me cryptic text mesages. If its that bad, just put me on ignore so you dont have to read my posts any more, I will certainly be more than happy to do the same to you. I apologise for not being so financlially well off that I cant persue every single idea I dream up, but some people like to talk about the stuff they have thought up and you might be suprised to find that there is little to no harm in it and there are places on the internet where motorcycle enthusiasts convene to discuss them. Stop being such a grump, get off my case, you dont have any wisdom you can pass on to me, and you are clearly so unhappy with yourself that you have to run around on the internet behind a keyboard belittling people.
