What would you do? (Givi rack mess)

Three months ago I ordered this crazy bike rack for bikes, and to attach it to the bike, the owner suggested Givi mounts (the 433F mono rack arms found here). A month later, I got the box of goodies and went out to install it.

Unfortunately, the left Givi arm would not mount. As you'll see in the photo below, the mounting parts are a tad narrow compared to the grab handles. You can wiggle the arm through the holes in the fairing, but you can only get one bolt in...the other side is off by about the width of the bolt. The right arm is fine and mounts as expected.

I sent the below photo to 2x2, and they were responsive. He forwarded it to Givi and said they'd handle it. This week, I finally got a box from Givi. With blind hope, I tried to install it...yet finding the same problem. I hold it up to the original arm they sent me--and it's exactly the same.

2x2 has been decreasingly responsive over time...they eventually told me to just lean on Givi. At this point, it's been so long, I feel like just sending the whole lot back to 2x2 for a full refund.

What would you do? The real problem here is Givi...if only that Vline guy was still making those awesome racks...

Here's the photo comparing the Givi arm to the grab handle:

I'd send it all back to Givi and get a full refund along with a note informing them that you are going to post the photos/story all over the motorcycle message boards about their poor customer service.

to be fair i have that much misfit on my five star racks, the only thing saving them is its two pieces that attach to the grap handle mounts and the mis fit is outside of the fairing, thus not placing strain on the tail piece holes and mount tabs.
i would suggest you tweak those arms via vice and cheater arm bar to get you fitment

and too be a better comparison, turn that grab rail around and see if they line up, with one on top of other, as the mount points are not aligned as much as you think cause one is shorter than the other

It seems to me you have three options.

Either fight the fight directly with Givi.

    or

Send the whole package back to 2x2 for a full refund.

    or

Take the misaligned part to a custom welder and have it fitted properly.

It appears that's just a big flat plate the bolts to the top of whatever luggage rack you have fitted to your bike.

So that being the case, you have a fourth option.

Purchase a SW Motorack and Adapter Plate from Twisted Throttle, and send all the Givi components back for a refund.

Or you might be able to figure out a way to mount it to the MotoRack plate without the need for the adapter plate, since it appears the adapter plate would need to be modified as well since it flips up in the back.

Re: What would you do? (Givi rack mess)

Thanks for the input, guys. I'd thought about bending the arm, but it's pretty stout. It seems like trying to modify it would be more work than it's worth, and it'll probably end up weaker.

Yeah, I was looking at this, too. I'll toss this idea to 2x2 and see what they can do.

I give up. Shopping for racks, bags, & cases for the Rex is driving me nuts. Looks like another year of bungies and straps.

Oh well, I did put a dozen eggs under the seat once -11 survived.

I must have gotten lucky when I bought my second hand givi rack and top case off the board years back, everything lined up. I know the bike looks better without the case mounted, but it gets too much use.
Some days it's not worth chewing through the leather straps.

I got news recently that even the SW Moto rack is no longer available, which would be a huge bummer.

I might've bought the last one. After this mess with 2x2 (never did get a refund, that's the bummer), I bought that rack and this Shad case. It's working out great.
