    BT016 Front Wears Too Fast

Spooned on some Pirelli Supersports that I picked up at Cycle Gear late last year, when they were on sale.

The Bridgestone BT016's only lasted 2882 miles this time around. I do live near the mountains now.

Wear bars showing on the sides of the front, center of the rear at less than 3000 miles! Last set was removed after over 3500 miles. Aggressive roads (or more belly fat) I guess.

I guess if I'm going to wear them out this fast, I'll just lever on whatever is on sale.

FWIW, the BT016's took 1 1/4 oz to balance - the Pirelli's took 3/4 up front, 1 oz on the rear.

The BT016's also had a little side to side shimmy (both sets), like they had lateral runout under load. Other tires I have run didn't have this unnerving quirk. The rims spin true, so I hope the Pirelli's solve that issue.

BT-016 had fast wear on the shoulder compound. they tried to fix that with the BT-016 PRO.

bridgestone must have given up since they just release new S20 to replace bt-016

Thanks for the tip. I got stuck with an 016 rear after a flat and thought I would get a front since my Michelin Pilot cupped so easy. Think I will go with the Angels.

Re: BT016 Front Wears Too Fast

I'm on my third Pirelli SS rear and my second front. I figure it's approx. 1 1/2 rears to the life of the front(5500 front-3500 rear). 3950 miles on the last rear and it was worn to the cord. I just ordered a set of the S20's, we'll see how they work.

As a side note. Spun my current front SS on the computer balancer and required no weight, we checked it three times to be sure. Just lined up the marks on the tire with the valve stem (shorty) when it was mounted and it was fine. Never had that happen before.
