whos running dj needles with factory pro 2.5 and jets?

seams to be missing that 5000 rpm power wheelie that I had with pods and dj kit...thinking of trying the dj kit with the 2.5 airbox set up...

It is set to factory specks 132in 130 out with a washer under the the needle... it is a 1200 kit in an 1100...oops

Opinons?

DJ needles are designed to be used with DJ main jets and DJ main jets are a completely different size than Factory Pro (Keihin) jets. If you are going to change to DJ needles, you will need to change the jets also. I have no idea how a DJ jet kit is going to work with a FP 2.5 kit or what size jets you should use. That kit is completely different than pods or modded airbox setups.

I have heard that the fp2.5 flows as much air as pods... I have the 132 mains from the pod setup... I was thinking it could be made to work.

It seamed to run stronger with the DJ and pods but I am still tweeking on the 2.5 setup...I want that 2nd gear 5000 rpm power wheelie back...

I am not oppossed to running the DJ kit with the 2.5 airbox... I thought some velocity in the airbox would be an improvment over pods...

If I understand your posts correctly (not sure) you are currently running 130-132 DJ mains now and you didn't clarify how you have your needle clips set. Follow logmaster's settings and you should be pretty close. If it's lean with that setup, just increase the mains one size and you should be right on the money.

I have on the bench a dyno jet set up for pods...4 132 mains and needles, have the pilot jets that were in it when I got it all cleaned ...

I took out the Dj and pods and put in the fp 2.5 set up...

Just want the power back ...it rips up top but a little flat from 4500 to 5500.

With the Dj and pods it would stand up on throttle only at 5000 rpm . Not so with Fp 2.5.

Probally need to try the fp 135/132 set up and see if that helps...

Just tinkering waiting for parts to arrive...

Based on your statement above that it feels good at full throttle but a little flat in the midrange, it doesn't sound like you need to change the main jets at all. They mainly affect the top end. All jet kit instructions advise to get the main jets right first, and then tune the needles/mixture screws. It sounds like your mains are about right if it pulls strong at full throttle.

Try changing your needle clip settings to improve the midrange performance. Go down one slot on the needle 4th instead of 3rd) and see if it improves. If not, try going up one slot (2nd slot). You don't know if it's rich or lean without a dyno check so this method will tell you, based on how it performs with the changes.
