    Stroker motor for turbo app??

So, i have been doing some research here. I have a few extra engines laying around, one 94 zx11d engine (my spare engine), and a 1990 zx10 motor. I did a little research on this zx10 engine. It has the same exact bore spacing as my zx11 engine, but has a 76mm by 55mm bore and stroke. My zx11 has a 76mm by 58mm bore and stroke. Would there be any major power gain by making this spin up faster? Is it worth the trouble i guess? I know I will need custom rods, no big deal. I would bet 500:1 the owner of my job would love the idea and probably authorize it to happen... We make internal engine parts ;-)... What say yee?? I am looking for honest feedback on this.

Where did you come up with those #s? The zx10 dimensions are 74x58 the zx11 block will not fit the 10 cases without machine work because the liners are bigger. The zx10 also has a weaker connecting rod that would mount be as sturdy for boosted applications. I think unclebob had a 10 motor with a turbo bit I don't think he was running high boost.

I used my old head gasket (zx11) on this zx10 block and its a perfect match. I wasnt planning on using zx10 rods, i want a longer rod...

Liners won't fit into the case without machining bigger holes in the cases. Ask zrxrob how a zx10 bottom end runs with the bigger bore. I also have several of each motor and have screwed some pieces together that most people wouldn't attempt.

last time I rode with unclebob he was running his '86 ninja1000 at 18psi @ 250hp, on pump gas of course. made the 200hp turbo I was riding look real slow!

So, what i am seeing is its not worth it? I want to use a stock zx10 crank. I am going to pull out both cranks this weekend, mic them out and see if they will even swap case to case. If they do, it should work. Going with a longer stroke, i loose about 1500 rpm, shorter stroke(and an amazing balance job), i should gain a few hundred rpm. This all hinges on being able to swap cranks of course...

I'm confused! How are you gaining any stroke? Both motors have an identical stroke. They have a 2mm bore difference. This how the displacement changes. Bore the zx10 block 2mm and you will have the same displacement from both motors.

The specs i got from kawi shows the zx10 has a 3mm shorter stroke, i havent split either case as of yet, so i can't confirm it

After lowering the compression to accomidate the turbo app, what have you gained besides a butt load of money spent on a motor that is more than likely gona hit the asphalt. Don't get me wrong here, it's great that you are thinking outside the box but damn man, I don't think there is anything to gain here but heartache. If it is even doable.
