    Speed Bleeders - latest mod

The latest mod to my bike are from here: http://www.speedbleeder.com/

I kept hearing how much easier they make bleeding, so I had to find out for myself. I've always used the "pump then turn" method and never thought it was difficult or anything. I think the most important thing about bleeding brakes or your clutch, regardless of method, is to zip tie the lever to the handlebar after your done and let it sit overnight...or as long as you like. This allows micro bubbles to work out of solution and come to the reservoir.

I got the clutch swapped over and will be doing the brakes this weekend. The clutch is rock hard again!

I plan on swapping my OEM lines for steel very soon. I will go ahead and install the speedbleeders anyways to get some clean fluid in the system BUT when I get the new lines, I will remove all the components and do a thorough cleaning/greasing and then add in DOT 5.1.

Adding steel lines to your bike has always been a necessity, IMHO. If you haven't felt the difference between steel and OEM, go try someone's bike with them. It really inspires new confidence!

I've got a Bergman spin-on kit coming too!

Anyways, I like the speed bleeders. All you gotta do to bleed is crack the nipple 1/4 turn and start pumping the lever! That's it! They aren't that expensive and if you need to go out in the garage and perform some maintenance, get these.

those have additional moving parts in it that are subject to failure, I'd stick with the standard bleeders...

how many bleeders are you going to add 2-4? that is 2-4 solid parts being replaced with parts that contain ADDITIONAL moving parts - that are subject to failure... comprehende?

I will be adding 4. Your suspension contains moving parts that are subject to failure. Did you weld your swingarm to the frame or something? WTF is your point? Do you post BS in everyone's threads that contain mods? "Hey, you added a 6 speed! That's one more moving part to fail! Blah, blah, blah!"

Why don't you STFU and go play with yourself.

They work exactly the same as stock when the speed bleeders are tightened back up after bleeding operation.

aww sorry to get your panties in a bunch

all I'm trying to say is that the 4 speed bleeders introduces 4 more possible points of failure to a critical system...

just google speed bleeder failure - they can and DO fail...

Yes. 2 front, 1 rear and the clutch.

Those parts are far less than a MityVac or similar tool to bleed and it honestly couldn't be easier to bleed the system. I have read that some believe the DOT 5.1 will keep you from ever changing the fluid again but I don't know enough to buy that. If you believe in changing fluids at the end of the riding season (if you have one) then these will make things easier.

I have 2 speedbleeders on the front calipers. One works, one doesn't. The one that doesn't work is now just like a regular bleeder. Big deal.

I was not the one to install these, and I would have never done so, just because I use a MityVac and these are redundant.

How in the hell would they fail? You gotta put down the pipe and the Koolaid and pick up a book.

They were installed on my bike when I originally bought it. The first time I replaced my fluids, I could not get the system bled properly. They seemed to be sticky. I pulled them off and replaced them with standard bleeders and have not had any problems since.

Good luck...with the bleeders and the attitude.

There's two bleeders on the rear caliper.

FWIW here's my experience with speed bleeders.

I installed them on my previous two bikes (CB750 and 900F) when rebuilding the brakes. I loved them. They made bleeding the system a snap. I don't know how they hold up over time as I sold the bikes after just a couple of years.

I got them for one of my atvs last summer. When I installed the first one, it wouldn't tighten down all the way, and acted as if it were stripped. That was not a fun discovery. Turns out the threads were wrong, luckily it did not strip the threads out too much and I was able to reinstall the old bleeder.

So overall, I do like them but I decided to bleed my brakes and clutch the old fashioned way for now. If or when I rebuild them I'll probably install them to make the initial bleeding easier. However I will inspect the threads very carefully first to make sure they match.

And now I need to bleed my rear brake some more, I had no idea there were two bleeders on the caliper.

So, some don't like them because they couldn't figure out how to clean the crude out of them (if, in fact, that's what it was)...

Some use the OEM bleeders because they almost had the replace the calipers by using the wrong speed bleeders.

Some don't like change, I get that. I wonder if I go start a thread entitled, "I got some pu**y last night!" how many guys would post and suggest pu**y isn't good and they got some bad pu**y before so they don't get any now...blah, blah, I keep my pu**y on lock because I can't keep it clean...

Thanks. I just ordered mine. Maybe I will change my brake fluid more often now.

Put my new lines on this weekend. The speed bleeders saved my aching back. Thanks again for the tip, Robbie. The I.V. style drain bag they sold me worked really well, also.

I did not know that the rear brake needed two bleeders, so I had to do one of them ol' skool. Still easiest brake fluid change ever.
