yup. that was primarily what my father worked on near the end of his career...the mid air refuling hardware on the 130s and the helos...that was the point of the 130s, was that they were slow pigs that could stay on station for refuling...I thnk all the 130s they had were tankers...neat stuff.
Got my highschool yearbook pic in the cockpit of a blackhawk (pavelow?) on base...bet that's hard now a days...
Some of my father's cronies put his tailgate from his F150 on a 130 to Thailand once..

Hercys fly over my house all the time. Training flights out of Mansfield Lahm. I think they use the big
quarry two miles west of here as a reference point for a turn.

my father's retirement plaque has a shot of 2 blackhawks and a 130 over Liberty Island similar to that one...i'll take a shot of it later tonight!

They may fly slow but the newer versions can do 300+ kts which is respectable for that type of bird.

I've flown in Dakotas in Asia, but they were "civilian" version passenger planes. They actually land and let you walk down steps, as opposed to handing you a parachute and booting you out.

Flown in one twice. On the way to Katrina response and on the way home. My boats fit inside them......barely. As most know, they are turbo prop planes. So, they are jets... kind of. Sort of. Not really. They just have jet engines

I was in an Airborne Engineer unit at the time (1987 or so) building a runway down there and we had a chance to train with the "Paracaidistas" and make a jump with them to get Honduran jump wings.

I was only in 4 years the first time, but was on jump status the entire time except for basic and AIT. Got out in 1989 and was called back 3 months later for Desert Shield/Storm. It seems they had a big shortage of truck drivers.
