    Re: Sintered or organic?

Organics wear way fast and make a hell of a mess. They also fade and don't offer the initial bite like most sintered pads do.

Never tried 'em. They're expensive and sintered pads have always performed to my satisfaction and expectations.

What do you have against sintered pads?

    Re: Sintered or organic?

Oh. You're looking at "knock off" stuff.

    Buyer beware in this case.

I would definitely be sticking with a "name brand" product if it were me. You must have missed the recent thread(s) about the latest "inexpensive" (as in cheap) tricked out looking brake rotor problems.

That's at least a name I'm familiar with. No experience with them though. Given that their "name brand" I'm sure you'll be able to find reviews of them out on the WWW.

Brakes can save your life, or kill you.
Read up, buy name brand pads.

Per stop, the most expensive pads are pretty darn cheap....especially when compared to the price of a bike and/or repairing a few assorted limbs.

BTW, the ZRX and the ZX6 both came from the factory with HH sintered pads.
Organic pads are a large downgrade.

true they wear faster but the pads are twice as thick! so yeah they make a mess.

    Re: Sintered or organic?

Along the same lines, but different. I was looking at pads/rotors upgrade for my truck. Planning on a big trip this summer pulling the camper with the family. I looked at the differences and was thinking the ceramic must be the best, cause they are the most expensive. Turns out they are great for keeping pretty wheels pretty and clean, but not the best for pure stopping power. They also recommend matching ceramic pads with rotors designed specifically for them. If you switch back to other pads later, you should switch rotors as well. Since I am looking for pure stopping power and durability, I went with the semi-metalic pads and good well ventilated rotors. Since my rex wheels are black anyway, I dont think I'd put ceramic on there either.
Just what I learnt in my recent investigation it it.
Short Stop Motorcycle parts and accessories http://ssmotorcycleparts.com/ ask for Craig and tell him you want the "Cinco" discount.

    Ceramic?
There are not ceramic pads for bikes that I know of.
We are talking about Sintered Metal which are complete metal, or "organic" which are a soft blackish pad with a few specks of copper

If I had a show bike and $5000 wheels, I'd buy some ceramic. No fuss, no muss.

    Re: Sintered or organic?

I tried some cheap-o pads. Pos? Organics. The stench of the material blowing in my face wasn't fun-or healthy. Noticed this for a coupla days. Davey D had another set to me in two days, tossed the cheap-os. Never again.
