    Going on an adventure!

Headed to Kanab, UT for the Voyager Rally with a buddy and I am tagging along. We plan to trailer to my brother's place in Denton, TX and ride from there. Here's a draft of the route we just threw together. For those of you familiar with any of the places, mind giving it a look and see if we are cheating ourselves out of good scenery/things to do/roads? Bear in mind there are times where we'll need to make fast time, hence some i-state and highway riding. Also we tried to avoid traffic around cities - we want to stick to the rural locations as much as possible.

After Devils Tower don't go back to interstate the way you came - keep going north and make
a loop through Hulett and on to 111 south back to highway. VERY nice. Much nicer than the ride in.

Out of Scotts Bluff, stick to the river eastbound for a few miles - Court House Rock and Chimney Rock -
    Oregon Trail.

Not riding THROUGH Rocky Mountain National Park ????????

Watch out for free range cattle and logging and mining trucks between Dinosaur and Fruita.

Mesa Verde is a must see. Near Cortez, CO.

******Turn north in Kayenta, AZ and ride through Monument Valley.*******

North of Mexican Hat look for Goose Necks State Park. Then somewhere up there is an eastbound road that will take you into Cortez.

You might want to consider hitting Arches NP then going back south to La Sal Junction and take
46/90 over to Natura, CO and 141 north to Grand Junction. 141 from Gateway to Grand Junction
    is GORGEOUS !!!!

    OR ------

145 north out of Cortez, CO past Telluride is considered one of the most beautiful mountain drives in
the world. Would tie into 141 and on to Grand Junction.

FIND EXTRA TIME SOMEHOW. THIS IS NOT A TRIP TO BE RUSHED.

Rt 141 south of Grand Junction.

    James Madison:
If Congress can employ money indefinitely to the general welfare, and are the sole and supreme judges of the general welfare, they may take the care of religion into their own hands;they may appoint teachers in every State, county and parish and pay them out of their public treasury; they may take into their own hands the education of children, establishing in like manner schools throughout the Union; they may assume the provision of the poor; they may undertake the regulation of all roads other than post-roads; in short, everything, from the highest object of state legislation down to the most minute object of police, would be thrown under the power of Congress…. Were the power of Congress to be established in the latitude contended for, it would subvert the very foundations, and transmute the very nature of the limited Government established by the people of America.

    I will never forget.

Man, thats a LOT of straight boring hiway between Albuquerque and Flagstaff. I would get off at Grants, go south to Quamato, over to springerville, showlow, then either payson to Phoenix or,holebrook to flagstaff. On the other side I would go Cortez to Durango instead of thru Moab, much more scenic, not so straight.I know you want to make time but you can do 70 on these backroads and you are in the mountains instead of desert.
