    16/47 on a 1100

Hi, I have just bought the 16/47 "wheelie sprockets" for my 1100, but I'm starting to get second thoughts
My wish is to do power wheelies i 2.nd, but will I also be riding with 8000rpm in 70mph?
I mostly do short trips (I'm not a touring driver), and once in a way I have a track day, where I can reach max 120 mph.
I think the new combination will suit me fine, but I'm nor sure. Can anyone convince me?

You won't be turning 8K at 70mph, more like 4.5-5K range. You probably won't be able to do true power wheelies in 2nd but if you give the bars a little yank at about 5.5-6K it should come up smooth. Enjoy, it the cheapest fun you can have on a ZRX. I run 16/45 (stock 17/42) on my 1200.

I'm running 16/47 on my 1100. I ride almost exclusively short trips around town - every day of the year. I do power wheelies in 2nd with full exhaust, pods, jetted, advancer and ZX11 cams.

    60mph is exactly 4000rpm.

    Hope that helps.

I have just received my new chain today and I have a question regarding the chain lock. I expected a link pluss a plate and a clip (old school?), but the lock only consist of a link and a plate. Is this type of lock just to be pressed together with a pliers? Is it good enough?

That's a rivet type master link that requires a special tool to properly install.

    Thanks,
Is the rivet type the best for our powerful bikes or will a clip type be enough?

    Best in what regard?

Mileage? Tensile strength? Rolling resistance? Weight? Maintenance needs?

Strength and milage. After what I have read, the D.I.D. Is the strongest, but is the EK strong enough for a 1100 ccm?

The model EK you've listed is rated for up to 1,000cc and according to some suppliers up to 145HP.

The DID you've listed is definitely the stronger of the two, and from my experience should yield better mileage.

I believe the EK chain is lighter, if you're looking for less rotating mass. The EK chains are usually less expensive as well.

I've always run DID on my ZRXs, both 1100 and 1200 versions.

Thanks, then I am on the limit with the EK chain. I just ordered a chain for my 1100 and it's alredy on the bike, so I'm not too happy.

There is nothing wrong with using that chain on your 1100. zrx24's description is comparative because you asked. Just because the DID chain is better does not mean that the EK is not acceptable. The EK will be just fine on your bike, relax.

Thanks TG. I hope you are right. I guess there is a positive safety factor on the strength so it want snap off. Anyhow I'm way belowe 145 hp.

Our own Dave Ditner has been selling that chain to members here for years. Don't worry, it's fine.

i went with this advice and sadly im very disappointed..... didnt change anything about my zrx wheelies (moved from 500ft to 3000+ ft) .... figured the change would bring back my wheelie machine but it didnt...
Founding Father and educator Noah Webster (1758-1843) had this to say: "The moral principles and precepts contained in the scriptures ought to form the basis of all our civil constitutions and laws. All the miseries and evils which men suffer from vice, crime, ambition, injustice, oppression, slavery, and war, proceed from their despising or neglecting the precepts contained in the Bible."

Stock gearing, 17/45 is 2.65:1 16/47 is 2.94:1. 2.94/2.65=1.109, so what that means is with the new set up your engine speed will be up 11% over what is was with the old (stock) set up. So if you were doing 2000 with the old set up you'd be at 2200 with the new. 4000 with the old 4400 with the new.

I don't feel that the wheelies are that much easier either, but the bike feels faster out of the corners.
And I would love to have a 6th gear.
