I agree that chain lube is a lot like engine oil and tires, everyone has their own ideas on what works.

I was only stating what is written on the can.... "Lather, rinse, repeat" supposedly is now known to have been put on shampoo bottles only to sell more product. Cheeky monkeys !

The biggest factor to chain life may well be lubing the thing. I know guys who are quite happy with using WD40.

The issue with lube flinging off is likely related to quantity applied and wait times after application.

The triflo workes well on guns if applied as stated,, But not worth a f&&%$# on a chain....

There comes a point in your life when you realize. Who matters.Who never did.Who won't anymore. And who always will. So,don't worry about people from your past. There's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.

Discovered it this spring. Buy it at Lowes. 3500 miles on my bicycle chain and 8000 miles on my ZRX chain this year. Best stuff I've ever used. Totally clean and dry, nuthin' to build up or sling off. Put more on after it rains, otherwise every 300 miles or so.

I've been using that stuff for a while and recently became concerned that I was seeing signs of possible shorter chain life. I just switched back to my previously preferred Bel-Ray SuperClean in hopes of getting a little more life out of my chain.

WD40 works well for cleaning a chain but a lube alone is a bad idea.....

I'm going to start using the DuPont stuff. I have silver wheels on two of my bikes and it kills me to see the crap all over it after the damn bike was detailed. Ugh!!!

I`ve never even used wd40 to clean the chain because it leaves all the residual wd40 inside the rollers so that when apply the chain lube it mix`s with the wd and then ya got a freaking mess....So for cleaning my chain just some hot water and DAWN dish washing fluid and dry it off then apply the chain lube of choice....JMO....

What signs? At 10,500 miles on my OEM chain I can just barely get a link to move by pulling on it at the back of the rear sprocket. I ususally wait until it will lift to about 1/2 of a sprocket tooth and then replace the chain (and both sprockets if there is any visable wear on 'em). Seems I'm on about a 20K mile chain interval, that is if I can keep myself from adjusting it too tight and causing premature wear due to stretching. Maybe all the power wheelies I'm about to do with my new cams will wear it out faster?

    Jerry,

The Duc dealer in Tally sells Motorex. I do use their chain cleaner and highly recommend it. I used to use WD40 but found that the residue prevents any chain lube from reaching the chain. The Motorex does not leave any residue on the chain and the lube then sticks much better.

    Winning. I love that stuff.

I have a case of some other knock-off brand that is supposedly the same as well; it rules also. I got it when Honda polish was banned in Kalifornia and before this brand came out.

I've tried the Motorex lube but it leaves a whitish coating all over the chain and I like a clean looking chain.

I'm currently using Amsoil's corrosion protectant/chain lube. Cheap and works pretty well. Definitely clean.

On the REX I use a Scott Oiler. A bit messy but it wipes right off the swingarm and it's great hardly ever giving the chain a thought.

I was at the KTM dealer yesterday but couldn't bring myself to pay the $14 they wanted for the Motorex chain cleaner.
    On the gas, kickin' ass.

    Do not use that much.
One time around, then take a towel and wipe it off the links.
A single can will last you about 40,000 miles.

Chain lube, oil...kinda like religion and politics. I'm kinda left leaning, but don't let that stop you from trying this stuff.
Great stuff 2b sure....used for years nothing better imho.... funny not too many people seem to know about it.

I know there are almost as many choices as there are Riders, But my 0.02 cents worth Bel-Ray has a fairly new loob (maybe 8 months old) called Blue-Tac Bel-Ray calls it fling proof, its awesome it tacks up great as long as you don't drown the chain with it, it won't sling off. Spray it on a few hours before a ride and good to go.
