    Jetting question

I am currently cleaning my carbs and wondering if I should or need to make any jetting changes. I currently have Ivan’s jet kit with modified air box, 112 mains, needles on 3rd clip with 3 washers on top, and 3.5 turns out on the mixture screws. I currently have a stock exhaust and can on my ZRX1100. I runs really good at those setting but there is a slight gas smell but not much. I previously had a full Muzzy with the same setting but took it off. The Muzzy is not going back on.

Ivan said to run it with the needle on the 3rd clip with one washer under the clip and two on top. Then 3.5 turns out on the mixtures screws. Would this lean it out or richen it? Should I just turn the mixture screws in to 3.0 turns to get rid of the slight gas smell? I will pull the plugs and look at them but the last time I looked at them they were fine.

I am just trying to make the adjustments before the carbs go back in. Thanks.

If you put one washer below the clip you are essentially rasing the needle 1/2 a notch. Hence you will richen the middle slightly...i think lol.

I've found Ivan's setup to be on the rich side. After doing a little tweaking on the dyno we found (in my case) it was only necessary to back off the air/fuel screw setting. Started 3 1/2 turns out and ended up 1 1/2 turns out.

If the bike pulls strong and is not stumbling anywhere, I'd leave everything else alone and just tweak the mixture screws a bit. You'll know when you've gone too far as it'll start stumbling off idle.
    Stupid is as stupid does.

Forget it, since I have the stock exhaust back on I am jst going to put it back to the stock jetting. Now off to the parts wanted section to ask for some stock needles and #95 pilot jets. Thanks guys.
