    Pressure Cap Leak ???

    Has anyone seen this before?

Finally did a flush and fill (water wetter) on my bike. I noticed when I remove the original pressure cap that the paint in the middle was corroded off. Over the years I would get a very faint coolant odor but the reserve tank didn't show a noticeable drop. Long story short. I replaced the cap with a new one and look what I see after a 120 mile ride...and yes, I bled the water pump.

Cap on the right is the original.

    interesting.

i had some faint coolant odor after replacing the radiator and hoses.

narrowed it down to the cap seal. now i'm going to look at the cap again.

Brand new cap and it seems to be leaking through the top? The cap on the left is the new cap and the residue easily wiped off.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has seen this before. The bike seems to be running fine. It does not overheat, even in the 100+ degree temps. Just a faint smell of coolant if I 'm sitting a stoplight for an extended period of time. I can say that the fan runs less frequently and shuts off quicker with the WW.
