California to Arkansas ( Eureka Springs)

Going to do this one on the fly since I will have plenty of time while
    on teh road..
I got away from Home later than normal after deciding against trying
    to bag and tent ..

I stopped in Dixon and had coffee with my youngest daughter, visited
for awhile and left the sacramento area about 11am.
The plan was to meet Jimmy B in Carson but I had switched phones
and had no contact for him : Rode around where I thought he
was living but noluck and so headed East on good ol US 50..I messed up
so have no pics Leaving California ( tons of traffic ) and really
started shooting the first Nv twisties .I really fun lil climb out upon
    leaving Austin Nv.

Nv Hyway DEept is doing a lot of of vehicles..Maintenance on 50 which
is teh reason for this group. 30min delays in areas, but look at that
straight ol stretch of hwy..I took a Lot of pics like this but do not
have software for other camera with me..

It was about 5PM at this point ans as soon as I began rolling again,
teh thunderstorms started..I made it into Austin just as they began
in earnest so checked into a motel and called it a day, sadly...My goal
was a minimum of 700 miles a day but I did leave a day early so I am
    ok timewise. 530 miles today

This was the last shot of teh day.

Woke up at 3am and rains is falling litely..Hopefully it was taper off
    by departure..

Don't get discouraged, wait out the rain and finish the trip, you know it will be worth it.

Good Advice, do what feels right, dont ever push past personal comfort limits the results you may not be able to live with. Cold, Wet and tired is a bad combo on a bike sir.

That said, in the spirit of the OA and Rallies

Dry Out and Man up Alice 3 margaritas a few hours sleep and roll man roll (if cold you may substite hot chocolate) we grade you guys from the west coast on a manhood curve anyway

I've changed direction on a couple of trips because of weather. I was headed for the east coast a few years back, hit storms, and enjoyed a good ride up the Blue Ridge Parkway instead.

I hate to hear I'll be the oldest guy at the rally .... again But you have nothing to prove.

You planned the time off. I'd suggest you find a route with better weather and go riding anyway.

Nothing wrong with waiting out bad weather, especially on a bike.

Damn Chly. Don't you dare give up. Keep going. Get to the other side. Every storm/crappy weather has a "I'm finally out of it" side. This pseudo qualifies as an epic ride. You can't stop. Take it at your pace.

Sorry for the bad weather. Take the time to maybe see something, or some place anyway with better weather. Our weather is good here in Arizona. If you get near us please give us a call. We don't have great roads here but I doubt that you would have to worry about being wet or cold. I will keep my fingers crossed and wish you better luck on your trip. Take care and good luck.

I felt like you do on the first day of my trip out to the coast of Oregon a couple of weeks ago. 105 degrees all day across Kansas to the Colorado border...700 miles that first day and although I drank plenty of water, it still wasn't enough. I felt bad and had thoughts of turning right around that next morning and going home.

    I am glad I didn't.

13 days and 5680 miles later, I had finished the BEST trip to see some of the best people on this board.

Of course, I am a bit younger than you are, and I am a masochist, so I like to push it.

Too bad you will not be able to make it as that was a main reason for me to go to ES this fall.

Take care and don't overdo it getting back home.
