    Motorcycle Shipping

Anyone have any experience with shipping bikes? I'm trying to choose a company to go with. What should I pay special attention to in the fine print?

Thanks for the reply. I think I'd prefer to go with a company that doesn't require me to crate it myself. I'd trust them more than I would myself to do it. I think...

There should be some kind of airfreight companies around the airport that specialize in that...have your wallet ready....

Just got a reasonable quote from Allied. $655 total NYC to Seattle Washington. Ride up to the shipping terminal in Rahway, NJ. They palletize the bike. Pick up 20 mins from downtown Seattle and ride away. They'll store for free up to 2 weeks, or $50 for a month. Insured up to $15k with $0 deductible.

Don't you have to remove all the gasoline (carbs and tank) from it before they'll package her and ship her?
I'm not completely useless. I can always be used as a bad example.

No, they just said to try to have a quarter tank or less, for fuel economy (so to speak).

Make sure you pull the vacuum hose from the petcock and let the carbs run dry before you wrap her up.

BTW, I've got family in Seattle I haven't seen in a while. What says you that you just leave that-there ZRX in town and I'll make sure she sees the kewl country roads east of town? Oh, and I'll get Jethro to ride it back east and deliver it for you.

These guys are right out of Milwaukee. http://www.haulbikes.com/

Impressive operation but I haven't used them personally. I've used them for quoting a few times. Most everything is around $500 to $600 for the furthest trip within the states.

I have used haulbikes three times and they do an excellent job. Never a mark and the bikes are ready to go when they get to their destination. And they get there when they say they will be delivered. I would use them again.

I used this guy to ship my bike From Phoenix to Nashville.jeffejackson14@gmail.com> Jeff is absolutely anal about the care of your equipment while in his possession. He ships in a Mercedes sprint cargo van and usually sleeps in the van with the load. Bonded and insured. $475 to my door.

    BADLY BENT BUT NOT BROKEN
